Destiny 2 going free on steam
It's not so much free game, as the game has gone free to play.

Surviving Mars free on Epic Store.
Don't forget to get some of the free DLCs from the DLC list as well.

Green Planet is 17€ and its worth it, I got the whole thing on steam for 22€ in a sale and not regret it one bit.

Still can't afford it, besides I don't buy things from EPIC.

OOOH here's one for you, Surviving Mars green planet is on sale on the EPIC store for £16.14 with a normal retail price of £18.99, meanwhile it's not on sale on steam and they want £15.49. Something not right with that.

So Steam now has a sale on for Surviving Mars, while Epic is giving away the base game for free, the steam sale you can buy the surviving Mars: first colony edition for £18.01. Now you may think that you are better off getting the free edition but the steam edition includes the base game, the deluxe upgrade pack, and the season pass which is all of the game, if you were to acquire them from Epic it would cost you £36.98, that's more than twice the Steam price. Free doesn't mean better, also getting it from Epic means using the Epic launcher and it's rather large list of lacking features.

Yeah, or get it for free, decide that you like it and buy the bundle on Steam. You make it sound like you only have one choice which is also why the calculation makes no sense.
I liked the base game a lot but I am not willing to spend any money on any of the DLCs. So that is 0£.

Anyway Observer and Alan Wake is free on Epic game store, right now.
Both are horror games, I especially disliked Observer in that regard. So if you are fan of this genre, recommended.

Exactly what I'm doing, have been playing the free game from Epic for a week and enjoying Surviving Mars. Seriously thinking about getting the First Colony Edition on GOG which is on sale for about the same price as Steam for the next few hours, because not needing to run Steam/Epic launchers makes me happy.

I haven't paid for a game through Epic yet but have 9, only play Subnautica and Surviving Mars, though, and Fortnite but that's different.

How long will Epic keep doing a free game per week?

More free games on the Epic store: Alan Wake's American Nightmare and >observer_ .
Going to play >observer_ on halloween as it seems like a great mix of horror and sci-fi.

Q.U.B.E 2 and Layers of Fear Masterpiece Edition are this week's free games from the Epic Store.

I've had Q.U.B.E 2 on my Steam wishlist for quite a while so that's a very welcome free addition.

... with "Into The Breach" being the first. Just downloaded and it looks like a fun little tactical game.
