I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to send in HMS Victory.

*edit* Make it 2 tankers in 1 day. When they see weakness...
All I will say is (without trying to sound bellicose) 95% of UK trade arrives by sea, and that's set to continue with globalisation over the next decade or so. If you cannot protect your reliance upon trade, then you're at the mercy of the whims of others. 2 tankers so far, but ... why not increase it if no-one is opposing you to these actions? What have they to lose?

Again, favourite comments so far from the general public :D
HMG must immediately announce a Review, seek to appoint a Chair in six months time with a view to an interim report by Christmas 2024, that’ll bang the Iranians to rights.
*edit 2* For those interested, the "Save the navy" website often runs articles which aren't *just* about "oh the navy needs more ships". This is of interest, explaining territorial waters, international waters, shipping lanes and so on - as well as just how little can be done, how dangerous the area can be, and what decisions have to be made by any ships in the area. It's a far cry from the simplistic chest thumping responses some give, and a far cry from the "only political solution" others talk about. A proper tinderbox and a very difficult area requiring extremely cool and responsible heads to get things right. It certainly appears far far more goes on than Joe Public is aware of.

No Win10 updates for me today. Don't you have your system set to update during silent/non-use hours?

That would have been the v1903 update that's been trickling out--Microsoft don't force a big update like that on everyone at the same time because it would kill their servers when everyone tried to download it at the same time!

Also so when it's broken, it doesn't break the entire population of Windows 10 users at once.

Just wondering if there is much coverage in the US of the wife of a US diplomat who it would appear has killed a young man in the a traffic accident in the UK, and then claimed diplomatic immunity and fled to the USA ?

I don't know how to search specifically for American news coverage, but my attempt didn't turn anything related up.

Anyone from over there inform me ?

Thanks.

I don't think she ever 'claimed' immunity or necessarily 'fled'; she always had immunity anyway as a senior US diplomat's wife despite which she had initially promised the UK authorities that she would not leave any time soon and would cooperate fully in the investigation. What actually seems to have happened after that was that the whole family left the country thereby leaving the investigation unfinished. I suspect (but obviously do not know) that the family departure could be as much directed by the diplomat and/or his employers as by the wife herself.

The story was on MSN, but no other news outlet seems to be carrying it, yet. CNN does have it but its on their UK side.

If you go to www.cnn.com you can select the "U.S." edition rather than the "International" one that comes up by default. The news article is there in the international edition but not in the US one.

Which is why I wondered about coverage in the USA.

Alan, I didn't mean to question the morality of the actions or facts of the incident so much as wondering if the states would be embarrassed by the story enough to keep it low profile. It seems that either they are, or it's not a big story. But as RegisterMe points out, it is prominent here...

I still can't find anything from any US news outlets on this.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it's the weekend and most government facilities are closed so officials would be difficult to reach, plus the "A team" reporters are laser focused on Trump right now. I would expect to see something tomorrow, most likely. Maybe even a mention of it on Last Week Tonight, tonight.
