So I take it you have all been following the fun and games that are being had at Blizzard right now after they banned Ng Wai "Blitzchung" Chung for his comment:
"Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our age,"
After his match in a hearthstone competition on Sunday night then they went and commented that they stood with the Chinese people on this matter. So far the response has not been what they expected to happen, to say the least. They have had staff walkouts, thousands have cancelled their Blizzard accounts, even Democrats and Republicans have joined forces to take a dig at Blizzard. Meanwhile other competitors have quit their game. It's not looking too good for them right now and they did it all for the love money.

They posted an update saying it was totes not about China at all, and they've reduced the bans for the player and the two casters to a mere six months...we all believe them, guys, right? Guys?

YongYea has done a video on Blizzards response to what has been going on and I have to agree with what he is saying. Sounds awfully like Blizzard have not got a clue what they are doing or what they did wrong and they have just handled badly doing one thing wrong after another. If you don't know what is going on YongYea does have I think it is five videos on the subject, it's like as soon as he made one video and posted it, something new would happen. I still feel sorry for the two presenters, they did nothing wrong after all they did not deserve any kind of punishment.

You know, it's really funny the South Park creators saw this coming. Perhaps not this specific event, but their new season started with "You gotta lower your ideals of freedom if you wanna suck on the warm teat of China." This was before the NBA censorship issue. And it's so true. American businesses are clamoring to break into markets in China due to their dense population and they're willing to compromise their morals to do it.

This is a prime example of why I don't believe businesses should have any voice in government. Their goals are profit, and not concern for people. I don't fault them for that, but rule of law should support the individual, not corporate greed and I wholeheartedly support government regulation to protect the people from corporations. That's my opinion, at any rate.

No sooner do you think that Bethesda couldn't stoop any lower, they somehow always seem to manage to do so nowadays. Today they released the $100 annual subscription for fallout 76, a game that is competing for the illustrious title of worst ever AAA title to be released. Angry Joe (cursing language used) has done a good angry rant about it. Myself I have to admit I have had probably a couple of good hours from Fallout 76 and I have never played the game. But due to it, there is a good chance I will never play another new Bethesda game ever again.

Once again, let's not just have clickbait links. If you want to discuss a story then by all means do so, but don't just post "check this out" and a link to some random news story.

So they are making a film adaptation of the HP Lovecraft story "The Colour Out of Space" which IIRC was his first cosmic horror story and pretty much defined the genera.
It stars, of all people, Nick Cage.
https://birthmoviesdeath.com/2019/11/06 ... T5w6TSWXHQ

Me: How the HELL are they going to film something the cental premise of which is; "There is this thing that is utterly beyond all human perception, understanding or conception"!?!
The trailer: "Like a pink light, actually I don't even know what colour it was!"
Me: "Oh, like that. . . it's pink. Gotcha!"

I'm not hopeful.
Cosmic Horror works even less well on screen than hard sci-fi does.

So CBS have got their hands on the crime scene and autopsy photos from Jeffery Epstein's death.
Fair warning that some people might find such pictures upsetting, but nothing gory nor especially explicit shown.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jeffrey-ep ... 020-01-05/

I can't speak to the medical evidence, so I will leave that debate to the experts. . . . and there certainly seem to be a debate.
It does seem very odd that the exact position in which the body was found in was not reported. I can easily see how that would render it impossible to draw decisive conclusions from much of the medical evidence.
It also seems pretty clear to me that the noose that has been entered into evidence as the fatal instrument is not the one shown in the crime scenes pictures that seems much more likely to be the one responsible, having clearly been cut and a better match to the end tied to bars.

Ain't exactly clear is it?

So I don't know if any of you have been following the Carlos Ghosn case, the ex Nissan boss who was up on charges in Japan. I say was, as if you have been following the case you will know he skipped bail and fled from Japan to Lebanon. Today he made a press release and the guy is totally out of touch with reality, as his excuse for fleeing wasn't so much I'm innocent but more he did not like the way Japan treats it's convicts. For example: when he was in Jail he complained he was kept in a small cell with a little window, or when he was in solitary he didn't even have a window. He also didn't like the restrictions that was imposed on him when he was let out of jail, like not being allowed to socialise with his wife.

Honestly what did he think jail was going to be like, the Hilton hotel. Most countries most countries their jail are pretty much similar in the sense they are not pleasant places to stay in, some will be better than others, but Japan certainly is not the worse, I actually imagine the jails in Lebanon are pretty worse than the ones in Japan.

Here's something, I would say due to the precedent that America and Trump have created recently, with committing murder in another country and saying they were justified to do so, Japan would be in it's right to just go into Lebanon to get Ghosen and take him back to Japan. Taking that into account, the UK should just send troops into America and bring back Anne Sacoolas to face charges, the way Trumps America has put things, we have the justification to do so after all she did kill a UK citizen.

Ha! couldn't agree more,

Though sending British troops to the US under the guise of assisting on the war on drugs with Mexico and then have them fire a missile at Anne Sacoolas while she's waiting on the bus would even be more fitting.

Some news from Russia

"Russian government resigns as Putin proposes reforms..."
https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/15/europe/r ... index.html

Now, CNN's takes may not be wrong, but I am frankly a bit confused by the changes.

Reading Russian sources, I see that there are proposals to change power of the President, and in some way make him stronger yet in some ways weaker, as well as make a stronger position out of Prime Minister. But! Also new power given to Parliament. And, a new almost a branch of government to be made. I havent had time to read through all this (thus why it's not a separate thread)

That story is just a little bit misleading, while they are not misreporting it the they are putting it is not quite right, for example: the flower part she was talking about the panels putting the flowers in the shade, as they cover a lot of area, meaning they were not getting the sunlight to photosynthesise. It also turns out there are quite a few solar farms in the area already. But then some of it was ignorant uneducated badly educated Americans. How someone can think they would suck all the power from the sun is just mindbogglingly stupid, Trump supporter for sure. Also how would they be able to give you cancer. To be honest I think they are blaming a lot of their problems on them, but they seem to have the exact same problems as every other rural town in America but they cannot see past their own town to notice this. Too much time watching Fox news and listening to Trump.

It's funny, it's depressing.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-51234141
An African-American man is suing a bank in the Detroit area after employees called the police when he tried to deposit money he had been awarded in a racial discrimination suit.
with the punch line...
a bank employee - herself African-American - refused and called the police on suspicion of fraud.

GeForce NOW Open for All. Waitlist removed, memberships now available for everyone. It seems like it lets you play pc games on various devices (pc, mac, shield, android phone) and weaker computers using their servers resources/power. It might be region restricted to some areas? Limited free use and a paid tier. $4.99 seems to be the paid tier. Supports steam games, epic games and battle net.
