Many, many years ago I knew this guy that could play the piano, but more than that he could play any song after listening to it for a single time. It was amazing, ask him to play something and if he had heard it sometime in his past, he could play it, and if not just listening to it that one time was enough. Of course he had to hear it, because he couldn't read music. I should also mention this part, the reason why he couldn't read music was he was blind, walked around with a white stick. Sadly he is no longer with us after his passing from an accident, many years ago. There are a few people who can do it, TheDooo on YouTube can do it, but he mainly wings it, plays his own improvised version of the song he has just listened to. So where is this leading, I had never heard anyone do it with the drums before, till tonight.

Larnell Lewis - Enter Sandman after hearing it for the first time. Just to let you know, he doesn't play rock music he is a jazz drummer, which some would say isn't music either

At this point I wondered if all along the watchtower is the most covered song of all time . Some people even argue that it was this song that won Dylan the literature noble price and to be honest I would not be suprised. While the Jimi Hendrix version is probably the most popular one (and deservedly so), there is also this Barbara Keith version which gives it a bit of funk/summer/chill vibe, that even though it isn't the most complex musically speaking, still always makes me want to get a cold drink and sit in the sun.

My daughters band The Geckoes just released their first single. It is on Spotify and YouTube. https://youtu.be/B4e9bwOzK-Q That is not her singing lead on this one but she is performing and doing back up vocals. I believe that their next single will be her singing lead.

My son isn't part of the band but he did the editing. They are both prodigies.

This is a hard one to do. Les McKeown the frontman of the 70's pop group the Bay City Rollers passed away at the age of 65. Why is it so hard, I was only 9 or 10 years old when they were all the hype, and I hated their music with a passion, even back then. But many and I mean many people loved them and still listen to their music. Like them or not, it's still sad when an icon from you childhood passes on.

There are some songs in every era, that just seem to manage to just nail down one aespect of the respective Zeitgeist perfectly.

I am thinking of songs like Bob Dylan's - The times are A-Changing.

As music is subjectiv and Zeitgeist is too, the songs on this list may strongly vary from person to person, but for me personally Little Simz just manged to encapsulate a certain aespect of the current Zeitgeist with her newest song: Introvert.

Incredible bass solo !

... speaking of rockers:

Slightly humorous, maybe a real historian would tell the story differently, but nevertheless worth an eye, i mean ear :-)
