Can't believe I'm doing this.

So here in the UK one of the things musicians want is to be is number 1 in the music charts on Christmas day. So we have just had this years Christmas number one announced and it's:

I Love Sausage Rolls - LadBaby

So here's the thing, this same time last year when they announced the Christmas number 1 it was:

We Built This City ...on Sausage Rolls - LadBaby

(serious hat on)
It is for charity, an interesting thing it is for The Trussell Trust and UK food banks which supplies food to those families that live below the poverty line. The current newly elected Government officially say that there is no one in the UK living in the poverty, that officially they have taken care of that. Meanwhile there are over 4 million children currently living in poverty in the UK, one of the highest amounts per population in any industrial country on the planet, they expect this to rise to 5 million with the help of Boris Johnson and his cronies. Have a nice Christmas.

It's weird. I heard of the passing of Neil Peart and then of the band Rush. And listening to their music I feel like I should have heard of them, but I havent. I've been aligned to the alternative side of music for a long time, I'm a fan of metal, rock and all things in between, yet ive never heard of this band or Neil Peart. It seems like big news, and upon learning of the band i'm listening to their music and its really good, amazing even, yet i'm still left wondering why the hell i've never heard of them. It is strange. Were they really famous in the US? I'm english.

Why havent I heard of them!?

I'm not a Paramore fan by any stretch - however, heard Hayley Williams solo effort these last few days while listening to Kerrang radio at work and ... and it's a grower.

If anyone can name the song that the music itself may remind you of, please say - I know a song with similar sound/beat but I can't put my finger on it.

This one deserves full lyrics.
When I originally heard this song I listened in passing, once I payed attention I realised its my favourite song ever written. Amazing lyrics and the video compliments it perfectly.

"So this is the end of the story
Everything we had, everything we did
Is buried in dust
And this dust is all that's left of us

But only a few ever worried
Though the signs were clear, they had no idea
You just get used to living in fear
Or give up
When you can't even picture your future

We walk the plank with our eyes wide open...

Some people offered up answers
We made out like we heard, but they were only words
They didn't add up
To a change in the way we were living

And the saddest thing-
Is all of it could have been avoided
But it was like to stop consuming is to stop being human
And why would I make a change if you won't

We're all in the same boat, staying afloat
For the moment

And we walk the plank with our eyes wide open, we..
Walk the plank with our eyes wide open

With our eyes wide open we...
Walk the plank, we walk the plank

And that was the end of the story"

Genesis P-Orridge has died aged 70.

I wasn't sure what to go with, so something more accessible.

I'm not really a fan Kenny Rogers, I don't know too much about his music, my dad on the other hand was, sadly he isn't around any more to ask about him but with his passing he still deserves to be talked about on the music thread. so I picked a couple of songs I know of to post.

Kenny Rogers - Lucille

Kenny Rogers - The Gambler

Just want to mention that he comes in tenth when it comes to album sales, that's a lot of albums he sold.

R.I.P. Kenny
