6 Underground on Netflix

This is the worst.
Michael Bay was always producing trash movies but this.. just.. wow.

The Witcher on Netflix. Only watched the first episode but it seems to be okay.

This, so much! It was like a rip off of "The Italian Job" and "Oceans 11" in one go without any substance (not that either of those were particularly great to begin with).

Yeah, just watched Ep 1 and it shows promise - some of the fight scenes were pretty good, some of the acting was pretty average. I've not read the books (and have only played a small amount of the third game) so I have no canonical viewpoint.

The trailer was enough for me to pass on this.

Who watches Micheal Bay movies still? The man cant write or direct if his life depended on it, he is stuck in the 90s and has no interest to ever get out.

6 underground was just meh, I'd been expecting "*shrug* huh". Witcher... still dunno, but if they keep singing that chuffing song I may just stop watching altogether.

 Also watched The Witcher and I like it so far. A lot actually. Well despite the unnecessary immense brutality.

However, I haven't played the games, every episode is an hour and they don't have time to explain anything, ever, at all. Most probably because they expect you to have played it? The story is absolutly not understandable without using Google the whole time.

I still have no idea why a hedgehog bursts into a wedding, falls in love with the princess, then everybody starts fighting against each other with no clear indication of why they are fighting and who is in which team, because of some random unexplained law, which causes the logical wrong person to get cursed and then them flying into the sky.
The many different and often unnecessary characters and the decision to tell the story (without telling the viewer) in multiple different time zones doesn't help at all.

What I got so far which I think is important:
- Nilfgard Empire = Evil
- Sintra Empire = Good, at war with Nilfgard
- Cirillia = Princess of Sintra, searches Geralt
- Geralt = The Witcher

Dont think the Series is based on the Games though, from interviews the Books is what is mostly mentioned, even though the games are possibly responsible for its notoriety.

So what on earth? They both were headed for the same homestead, but instead decided to run off into the forest, where she rushes into his arms despite never having seen him before.

Her elf friend just buggers off, and the farm wife brings her home after she steals her horse, which then died.
So... It was ok.

The Witcher games have nothing to do with the books, apart from the characters. The Author (Andrzej Sapkowski) had no say in any of the production of the games, as he sold the rights for the making of the games. Basically he got offered a lot of cash and went caching, sure here you go without realising what he was doing, also he is not happy about the games.

The televised series is more akin to the books where Andrzej Sapkowski actually had some input and say into what was being put into the telling of his stories, in other words he learned his lesson that greed does not always pay.

He got a flat payment of a little bit of cash. Then last year, he sued (as allowed under Polish law) as the games were more successful than he anticipated (He'd already leased the rights once before to a company that did nothing with them), and got a big settlement from the developers.

Apparently he's been happy to sign another rights deal with them, though:

So I finished watching the Witcher, and I don't mind admitting, I rather enjoyed it, despite what the critics are saying.

I also suspect we will be seeing a lot more of Freya Allan (Ciri). She is actually 18, well 17 when it was being filmed, even though she is supposed to be playing a 12 year old Ciri, Just had to throw that in.

Enjoying S4 of The Expanse, but bloody hell the Belter language and accent does my head in. It's been my one massive annoyance with the series; I almost gave up on it mid way through S2 because of it.

I do have my worries there - it took them a whole series to get lost in the first place!

Star Trek: Picard is out the 23rd of January on CBS All Access in the US, with it appearing a few hours later on Amazon Prime in the UK. It'll be released weekly, so no binge-watching it all in one go.
