I remember Saxon from Enter the Dragon, but he seems to have worked in almost 200 titles and even very recently.

My mistake if it's a repeat, but wanted to add something this time. Last year died one of the "first" people in space travel. If you don't know of him, check it out:

Quite surprised that this has not been mentioned. Chadwick Boseman the actor who played Black Panther has died from Cancer aged 43.

I just read about that this morning. I've been rewatching all of the MCU movies with my kids for the last week or so. Just watched Black Panther again last night. Shocking news, to say the least.

Former Bond-Girl Diana Riggs died aged 82. Though she was probably better known as Emma Peel or Olenna Tyrell.

I didn't know she also was a Bond girl.
Sad news.

Re: Death announcements for persons of note
Probably because she was in "Oh Her Majesty's Secret Service", aka "The Bond no-one watches". She only got better as she aged, too, I think her turn as Olenna Tyrrell in GoT was one of the best performances in the series. Sad news indeed.

Re: Death announcements for persons of note
I always hated the ending.
The completely meaningless and pointless death of Tracy at the end always stuck me as an example of what I consider soap opera syndrome.
Yes I know applies to sitcoms too.
The first rule of soap opera is Nothing Must Change. There can be no plot. There can be no character development or change of
circumstances. If you allowed change people might have to watch the episode in order. That would be completely unacceptable.
James Bond is unmarried so if he does marry in the film his wife must be immediately killed. There was no plot reason for this. It
looked shoehorned in to give the next film an unmarried Bond.

To be fair, though, it also gives a really great moment in a later Bond movie--"Licence to Kill", where Felix Leiter gets married and his new wife tries to give Bond her garter to encourage him to be next to get married. When Bond drives away she asks Felix if she did something wrong, and he just says, "He was married once. It was a long time ago."brucewarren wrote: ↑Fri, 11. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg just died. She hold out as long as she could but I guess she didn't make it this time. Can't remember a second person at her age who manages to survive as many medical crisis as she did.
For me the saddest part is she passed before having the chance of having a few years of proper retirement to enjoy the last part of her life, someone with her working record deserves it. But then I don't know if that is what she wanted herself.

The reason was revenge, but here is the thing, the films are loosely based from the books, most of them aren't that great anyway, only Russia with love really stood. While the films ended up to be something quite different.brucewarren wrote: ↑Fri, 11. Sep 20, 18:15I always hated the ending.

for example, after his wife death in the books, Bond was very moody and drinking, and didn't do his job. So M sent him to Japan. (You only live twice) But the book version was quite different, (still based in Japan, just the story is different)

The first book (thubderball) is the start of the Blofeld trilogy, and ends with You only live twice.
But the film very take a very different course. But technically, Bond does marry, and technically Blofeld does kill Bond's wife.

Re: Death announcements for persons of note
Anyone here watched Mission Impossible series? I feel it's basically the American version of James Bond that have a unique take to what you guys are talking about. This article described the difference of this series comparing to others about "the need to kill off the love interest" that has become a normal expectation.
