Seems like Doris Day has passed away aged 97. Great actress whose films I enjoyed watching.

Good one BugMeister!

Let's not forget Doris' keynote song that became her themesong for her TV Show either:

Goodbye Doris. 97 was a good long run.

Hate to double post, but my particular field lost one of their greats.

Architectural Designer I. M. Pei.

You know his work, especially the glass pyramid in Paris.

He was past 100 so it was neither sudden nor unexpected. Almost the opposite that can be said of his works.

Yeah, heard that on the radio this morning. Sad news--the way he fought back and nearly won the 1976 F1 World Championship despite his horrific crash in Germany was amazing.

Gutted by his death. - I'm gonna miss his straight talking. An amazing man and a huge loss. R.I.P.
“Man, my poor head is battered,” Ed said.

“That explains its unusual shape,” Styanar said, grinning openly now. “Although it does little to illuminate just why your jowls are so flaccid or why you have quite so many chins.”

“I…” Had she just called him fat? “I am just a different species, that’s all.”

“Well nature sure does have a sense of humour then,” Styanar said. “Shall we go inside? It’d not be a good idea for me to be spotted by others.”

Ditto

Of less fame, but some note; Nan Winton, the first woman to read the news on the BBC, (and only one for the following 15 years!) passed away earlier this month, it has been announced. If anyone wants reminding of the levels of prejudice women faced in decades gone, here's a part of her story: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-48348661. Whilst we've thankfully left some of that behind, it's sad to think that pioneers such as Nan didn't see us achieve more in equalising society in a long lifetime.

Paul Darrow of Blake's 7 fame.

Avon was a fantastic character, and Paul Darrow acted him flawlessly. Who can forget this exchange:

Vila: I'm entitled to my opinion!
Avon: It is your assumption that we are also entitled to it which is irritating.

Max Wright died.
I doubt many will know who I'm talking about. To be honest, my memory is too bad to recall who he was. But the name of his best known role is better known. Willie Tanner.
If that still doesn't ring a bell... Alf. Willie was the father of the family.

Rutger Hauer passed away last Friday after short illness he was aged 75, probably best known for his role as Roy Batty in Blade Runner but he played many roles over his acting career. One of my personal favourites was Blind Fury where he played a blind Vietnam vet who wielded a sword.

R.I.P. Rutger.

As a child of the seventies he will always be Roy Batty in my mind. The "Tears in the rain" monologue is, imho, one of the most powerful moments in modern film.
