Game streaming services work pretty well, actually. I haven't tried Stadia specifically, but I've tried Nvidia's (arguably better, as it just lets you log into your Steam/etc accounts and play your games), and even twitchy games were eminently playable. Ping times will vary depending on your connection, but times of well under 50ms are achievable on good home internet connections (I get about 15ms to Google's servers). Some particularly twitchy games support feeding control input in on a historical basis to counter network lag in multiplayer as well (e.g. fighting games) - I have no idea if Stadia does this on any games, though!

I'm not gonna be replacing my gaming PC with Nvidia streaming any time soon, but at the same time I wouldn't by any means be averse to using it if I was gonna be stuck somewhere without my gaming PC but with a decent internet connection for a while.
That actually helped me a lot! I could in theory run Cyberpunk with my PC, but it would be on low settings. This seems like a cheap and good alternative, so thanks for that. :)

I would definitely suggest trying streaming services on some other games before committing to them for Cyberpunk, but it's definitely worth a shot. With Nvidia's Geforce Now service, you can use it for free with a few limitations (queuing/time limited play sessions/lower graphics settings), and as I mentioned it uses your existing Steam/etc library (not GOG though!) so you don't have to buy games for it. The paid version is also only $5 a month. (This would also give you the option of buying Cyberpunk on Steam and trying both local and streamed versions.) Stadia is more of a commitment as you have to actually buy games for Stadia, although you can get a trial of the subscription, which comes with access to some games, so you can also see how that performs without spending anything.

I tried Geforce now today and it worked brillantly even though I right now only have 50mbits download rate. That however won't be a problem when Cyberpunk comes out as by the end of this week I will have a new connection with up to 1gig download speed per second, so that should be enough. Ironically I will also save some money as the new contract is oddly enough cheaper than what I currently have.

I somehow don't think Stadia could ever work: playing by stream? Are you mad? What about lags? A 50ms lag after pushing a button to jump in Super Mario means death, imagine how crucial are those instants in modern titles...
It's not as noticeable for a single player title. There will be teething issues with it if cyberpunk ever goes multiplayer.

I don't know, I'm still not trusting play-by-stream services, mainly because I live in Italy and large bandwidth is utopia in most places, with quite instable ping times. I mean: I can watch a 4k movie with no issues, but playing Tetris with keylags of 100+ milliseconds would be really hard.

Looks like Night City Wire Episode 4 came out a little while back..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcWf0pnbfLA

Along with yet ANOTHER delay announcement lol! Doesn't bother me as like I said previously in this thread I don't have a computer that can run it anyway haha. Apparently the devs have been getting death threats from impatient wackos out there though which is a bit messed up!

Maybe all those impatient ones should check out what I just found... Today I noticed a review in a recent PC Gamer magazine of a small indie game called 'Cloudpunk' that has you piloting a flying taxi around a rainy cyberpunk city at night. Looks and sounds awesome as that cockpit has massive Blade Runner vibes, the taxi reminds me of 5th Element and that creepy stormy sky reminds me of Highlander 2 lol!

Apparently there's not much depth to the gameplay sadly as it's more about immersion. However considering I was more looking forward to driving around Cyberpunk 2077's city at night listening to synth tunes instead of just running around shooting people then I suspect this little game will be right up my alley haha! Apparently you get your own apartment in a sky scraper with a balcony looking over the city that you can decorate and play retro video games in, so hmm yup that's got me written all over it too lol! Although yet again my old computer probably can't even run this one either arrrgh haha!

I've had this one for a while, drawn in by that Bladerunner vibe. It's a nice little game. The voxel graphics work well for the scenery and the vehicles, but they're a bit jarring for the characters; luckily the comm screen uses normal graphics for the characters, though, which helps. The gameplay is pretty simple, but the story keeps you moving and the atmosphere is spot on.

Awesome! Yeah I found the people/characters in the trailers a bit off putting (the way the arms link into the shoulders looks terrible haha) but that world.. the colours.. the effects.. just stunning! Wish I could run the darn thing on my aging machine. Although I saw them posting about adding more gameplay content in the future so perhaps it's best I wait anyway to get the full experience. I saw that they've added first person view support now which I think will help the immersion a lot as I watched an old 22min gameplay vid on IGN and it looked a bit weird running around tops of the buildings with the camera zoomed out so far, the player kept tripping over and getting stuck behind things lol.

What your apartment like? It sounds cool but I can't really find any pictures of peoples decorated apartments and the balcony view of the city. I don't expect it to look anywhere near as good but I love that moment in Altered Carbon when Kovacs steps out onto the roof to look out over the neo cyberpunk future city.

They've finally released more detailed system specifications:

I'm not surprised they're that low given it's going to be running on (now) last gen consoles. Good times. :)

Yeah, it seems that it'll be very forgiving on the hardware side. Many devs could learn a thing or two about optimizing their games like Doom, I wonder if Cyberpunk will run like that (I doubt it).

Wonder if the main reason behind the delay is all about optimization. Feel like the requirements look ... brighter each time they announce a new spec. They probably figure even if the game is advertised and aimed at the elite hardware, it's so hyped that many people probably will try it. If the majority get irritate at the performance (rightly or wrongly) it wouldn't be good for game rep.

Speaking of optimization, when Bannerlord first came out the battles were kind of rough. Now both the battles and sieges run much better. I hope that Cyberpunk will run well on very different hardware.

Yeah not too bad.. I meet them better than I thought I would except for the whole missing graphics card issue haha.

Probably for the best. Social media is teeming with spoilers due to people receiving copies early, too. Hope you enjoy it! :)

I am curious as to how what was pretty much the most niche of the niche became pretty much the most anticipated game of all time. What did I miss?
That said, I am very excited!!!

Can you all damned well stop preloading Cyberpunk. You're killing my GOG bandwidth! Pass it on! :D

I assume that's the cause, but I'll likely be adding to the problem very soon.
“Man, my poor head is battered,” Ed said.

“That explains its unusual shape,” Styanar said, grinning openly now. “Although it does little to illuminate just why your jowls are so flaccid or why you have quite so many chins.”

“I…” Had she just called him fat? “I am just a different species, that’s all.”

“Well nature sure does have a sense of humour then,” Styanar said. “Shall we go inside? It’d not be a good idea for me to be spotted by others.”

Have to put this off for a week. Got 3 deadlines on my masters course due next thursday and can't trust myself to stay focussed if I had it.

This is why Gog needs Peer to peer downloads as well
