Unfortunately, Co-Optimus doesn't have a review for Divinity 2. :/
It does have one for the first game, though, which has very similar mechanics to the second one.

Yeah, it's why I got the first one, though I have yet to play the darn thing. :)

Sweet! Very cool!

Be sure to report back and let me know how your experience was in multiplayer! A friend of mine and I are always looking for a good multiplayer RPG experience, so any "real person" feedback you could relate would be much appreciated!

Me and the missus have played it far too much in the last week and we have had an absolute blast, it's one helluva time sink, you just don't notice the hours slip by.

Honestly, i was very skeptical that split screen would work, i think i have only played a few games on split screen that really worked, Spy Vs Spy, Goldeneye & the classic mario kart - most games never cater for this style of play and if they do, it's very poorly implemented, but divinity was nigh on perfect! You can either play single screen co-op and when one of you wanders off, it moves to split screen (vertically) and joins back to single screen once you are both back together. Whilst this looks most pleasing on the eye, it did turn out to be a hindrance as only one player can control the camera, so we opted to force split screen (save me complaining :P) and it was a joy, no hiccups, no loss of frame rates and the text still easy to read. Once combat starts it goes back to single screen for ease of use and a more tactical view of the battlefield, which is not a pain as it's turn based combat.

I assume you have read most of the reviews and know what to expect, but i will say it is probably the best RPG i have played. The character creation tool is powerful and you can truly specialise your characters. The quests are all narrated (which is probably the reason for the massive file size) and really do have decisions to make which can effect how the story unfolds, which is a great thing to have for replay-ability. We have only just concluded ACT 1 which i believe is the tutorial, and tbh i would of been happy if that was the end of the game as it took over 40 hours to complete and i believe ACT 2 is twice the size! Which means we are definitely going to get value for money out of it.

The only problem with playing local co-op is both players have to be on a controller, keyboard and mouse for player one and a controller for the second player simply doesn't work. I thought this would be an issue as i hate controllers, but i have to say, after a few hours play, i really didn't notice it as a problem and if i was to play it single player, i would probably play it on a controller.

In conclusion, if you like RPG's, buy it, if you like single player, buy it, if you like local co-op it really is a MUST buy! It's on sale on steam until the third of January and in my opinion, probably the best 20 pounds i have spent on steam.

If you have any questions just ask.

Thanks, ATTACK_HAMSTER!

I might get it as a belated Christmas gift for a friend of mine. (And for myself, too. ;) ) "Multiplayer" plays a bit differently for remote co-op, but it's not much different than say something like Neverwinter Nights was, IIRC. Either way, it looks like a great RPG!

I picked up the Skyrim-remastered+Fallout4 bundle on XBox, with all the DLC for both for $40 on sale, if anyone interested doesn't already have those. (I had Skyrim on PC, just not on Xbone.) Not a great price, considering, but I wanted them in my console library. Uh... I just remembered - I had Skyrim on PS4 already, I think. /shrug

Thanks for the great report!

I have to ask, who got the cat and did you manage to save it.
Florida Man Makes Announcement.
We live in a crazy world where winter heating has become a luxury item.

Divinity 2?

I had it and saved it, couple times or so.

I saved that cat once, but frankly it's not really worth the effort--the standard summon (Incarnate) you get as a summoner is simply better in pretty much every way, because you can summon it with any elemental power available on the battlefield and it has both physical and magic armour, which the cat does not.

I am near the end of the game (finally!), the Incarnate, especially with source, is by far the strongest summon. (My main character is maxed out summoner)

None of the other in game match it.

The cat can be good for a tank or bruiser character that suffers mobility.

Picked up Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen. It's a pretty good game so far. It has a steep learning curve. The respawn system is a bit annoying. It's something like Dragons Age Origins.

It really isn't? Dragon Age: Origins was a tactical battle RPG where you had to give orders to all your party members, whereas Dragon's Dogma only has one character you're controlling plus one companion--it's more like Skyrim. Also, I found the game fun for the first half, but then a major event happens which you'd think ends the game, but it doesn't, it just makes it twice as difficult--and it wasn't particularly easy to start with!
