game disc not recognised

Installed X3 Terran Conflict 2.0 from disc. The game installed but when I try to launch I am prompted to insert the disc which is already in the drive. Then the game just shuts down. I have the original key codes in the manual buy I was never prompted to enter the key. Can I download an update to fix this? Using windows 10

You should have updated to latest version using the 3 patches (in version order) from the Egosoft downloads site before trying to run the game. The patches remove the old and no-longer workable on-disk XP-era DRM. This was mentioned in the Sticky threads here and here.

An updated game should run without issues. Good luck.
