I don't know if this changed in V2 but in V1 the three options I could see were carrier, combat and target. My assumption was that the LSDC Combat was equal to Normal above, Carrier was equal to Combat and Target was the same.

So I am happily building drones on my carriers, they'll be xenon killers in no time!

I have a question on build limits though. I have set limits on the capacities for each drone type. If I now transfer completed drones from another factory onto the carrier will it include those drones in its limit?

In other words if I say 'build 60 drones' and then transfer in 40, will it now only build 20 or will it continue to build 60?

Hi hilly32,

The production task will pause until space becomes available. You may want to keep an eye on this, if your carrier is full and production is pause, then drones are deployed, you could end up with the production task seeing the free space and completing its build. If you don’t lose any drones in the engagement you may not have the space to recover all the drones.

Hi Logain, love the idea and about to try it out in my game. Totally agree with you that static/semi-static sector defense desperately needed improvement from vanilla.

Just a question about compatible ships. Does 'carrier-class' include anything with a hanger? So TM, TL, M7 and M1? Or is it just M1s and the carrier-like Panther and Griffon?

I've only tested o the Griffin, a TL & a M1, but should work on anything classed as a Carrier.

OK I just tried it out on my Hyperion and the script worked perfectly. Used Cycrow's cheat package to add 50 of each (MkI, MkII, and Keris) and set Teladi to Foe with a Gannet and escort in system. Unfortunately the lot of them where slaughtered by Flails :( Damn that reacquiring software!

Cheers for the update & feedback :)

As a test I setup an Argon M1full of drones a couple of M2’s and four M7’s, jumped the lot into a Xenon sector (forgot which), I set LSDC to engage everything below M7 class,and used my cap ships to engage other cap ships in turn. Worked a treat, I love combined fleet operations.

I’ve been rebuilding my SSDN mod with the aim or incorporating LSDC into it. This for me was the next natural progression as both scripts do a similar job and share a lot of code.

This doesn’t mean the end of LSDC, just the option of only having to install SSDN if you want to use both. LDSC will still be supported for anyone who just wants to use Drone Carriers.

Have you considered the earlier post of adding these drone carriers to the AI fleets or is it possible.

It might be fun, "OH a pirate TM, six ships (forget what that ship is called)" OH FRAG where did all theses drones come from......

Once I'm happy with SSDN & LSDC I'll look at the AI side of things.

I cant get the script to work properly. I just bought a Griffon and installed the needed software, but the ship doesnt send out drones to attack enemies when i find some.

Sorry for the late reply, been an unexpectedly busy week RL wise!

Have you turned it on?

Have you set the ROE so it knows what to engage?

Also the ship will only deploy drones that is detects within its own sensor range, not yours.
