In theory, this should work for AP. I cant check myself just yet, but will do soon.

For AP, you install it as 03 in the Terran Conflict\addon folder.

The AP 01 cat has the same file in it, so it will overwrite anything in the TC folder. Hence, it needs to be false patch 03 in addon.

I tried it with AP+XRM. Doesnt seem to be working tho. XRM files are 04 so I put NoFog as 05. Maybe I should switch their numbers, NoFog 04 and XRM 05?

Does XRM make changes to tbackgrounds ? If so, put no fog after it.

It will work if you add an addon folder to the cat, then drag the types folder to that.

There could be another way maybe. This is how I got it to work in AP though.

Unfortunately I am too dumb to operate the machine. No idea how to do that. Will try reinstalling it, hope it does the trick.

Cheers

Im not sure why you think reinstalling would fix it? Its not an install issue its a file path issue.

You dont need to be smart to do it. Just use the x3 editor.

This should work with AP. All ive done is add an "addon" folder so AP will load it.

I wont guarantee that it works with any newly added AP sectors that have fog but it will at least cover everything from the original TC sectors. It wont break anything and can safely be added or removed without harm to your saves.

I have no intention of actually supporting this in any way its just here for those of you who are x3 editor challenged.

You also didn't give any instructions on how to use it.

I tried it as 03 in the addon, it didn't work.

Nervous? Its a fake patch. Please reread what I wrote. Its harmless. Also it works for me so im not sure what the issue is youre having.

Try downloading it again. See if it works now. I removed the erroneous types folder. I cant say for sure thats your issue but its worth a shot. It wasnt needed for AP anyhow.

It needs to be installed as a fake patch as described in the OP. The only exception is that it needs to be placed in the "addon" folder.

Of course, that explains it. The cat needs redoing.

I'll do that today and get it uploaded.

Not sure why you have to have an addon folder in the cat that is already in the addon folder but "rules is rules" as they say.

Because the way they coded it, everything is still from the perspective of the TC directory. So the AP patches are read by the game as if they were in the TC directory, not addon.

Someones bright idea. Sort of thing only a programmer would think of.

Uploaded an AP version to my AP download area. Link on HQ, linked from signature.

Someone try it please. It should work, but I'm still getting my new games computer together and not yet ready for running AP.

Edit : Unzip into TC folder. It automatically puts on 03cat/dat/txt in the addon folder. The text file lets you know what the patch is and has the unzip instruction in it.

Btw, as far as I can tell, steam only patches into 02, so there should be no danger of having the 03 overwritten.

Thanks go to both of you, JoelR and apricot.
I will try it tonight.

Apricot, I have XRM installed as 03 and 04, so I should rename NoFog to 05, right?

Cheers,
Martin

Yes, extract it to a temporary folder, rename all 3 files, move into addon.
