Sartha,
Ok, when I put them up, I'll put a note to them that they are recommended for X3R.
Then if / when you update them, I'll put up the updated ones instead (as long as they work in X3R & X3TC).

I hope that's OK.

I have one last question (for now),
I'm going to start asking everyone (I can find) who makes these ships
if they would mind me holding onto backups and uploading them if the current links become broken for any reason.
Is this OK with you ? If it is, great. If it isn't, that's OK too.

My ships are hosted both on my 4shared account and on the XSP Database:
Blackpanthergroup XSP Database

but if those go down you can host them ^.^

mash319,

You humble me

All I did was put the list together,
The ones who deserve the real thanks are the clever bods who made the ships.

Your appreciation is appreciated.

I agree, still learning my scripting skills and I am a long way off 3d modelling. So...

Many thanks to those who put their talents to good use.

Firstly, allow me to add my thanks and congrats to Alien ND for putting this post together. It should IMO be stickied.

I've been having this crazy idea recently of a script + xsp ship combo package. This could comprise of e.g.:

- Ship(s) that have special abilities, implemented via dedicated scripts.

- A pseudo 'custom start' where e.g. a shipyard/PHQ is created in an unknown sector with all the Star Wars ships there, so someone could role-play an Imprerial invasion of the Commonwealth galaxy (I did something similar just for myself in X3R).

I've got too many projects going on at the moment to do this, but I thought I would throw the idea out there.

ThisIsHarsh,
Thank-you for your Thank-you, but like I said above, the clever bods that make ships (& scripts & mods) deserve thanks.
I just put a list together.
As for this thread being stickied, I don't think it's important enough,
If a Mod or Admin wants to Sticky it, that's OK with me,
but it has a link in the TC Download library with the ships,
and I'm happy with that.
(EDIT - LV has also added a link in the recommended section of 1st post of the Download sticky.
I missed when you did that, LV, thank-you. :D )

As for your idea of script + xsp ships, that is IMO interesting
and adds a whole new dimension to scripts (if it's not being done already?).

I think LV is working on something similar with the X-BTF start (but without the original ships  )

How would you edit the stats on an XSP ship?

My best guess (and Cycrow would be the best one to answer this I think) would be,
Download Cycrow's Plugin Manager Lite (if you haven't already)
Choose Full Install when installing
Use one of the tools (ship creator I think)
and that allows you to alter the ships, then save it as a new ship.
AFAIK it needs X3R installed, but Cycrow is working on a TC version.

Hope this helps

I remember reading that Cycrow said the plugin manager would create it's own Tships file.

Could you not just use the X3 Editor to edit the ship stats in that Tships.pck file after closing the plugin manager?

The only drawback I can forsee is you need to back it up before opening each instance of the Plhugin Manager otherwise you lose all your ship changes.

It also means you can only start editing once you've already installed all the ships you want.

If your questions are about the plugin manager or X3 editor,
you'd be best off asking in those threads.

Otherwise, if your question is about editing xsp files,
there's no harm starting a new thread asking your questions (if a thread doesn't already exist)

I'm sorry I can't be much help to you.

There is a beat version that I think is at beta 4 of the plug-in manager by Cycrow. I know that it can handle the XSP ship files and I have tried a few but not been successful on getting them to work yet. I think that he is looking into an issue with it at the moment but he is quite busy.

I think that it is v1.20 beta 4 if you want to find the thread for it.

More screenshots will be added soon,
I'm taking a break at the moment (trying to play a vanilla game !)

But will continue to work on the list soon.
When the [WIP] disappears, I will feel I've got it to a good place.

Thank-you for the encouragement.
I think the clever bods that make scripts / ships / mods etc
know how important a little encouragement can be.

Can anyone who (like me) thinks Tie Fighter was probably the best game of all time, and/or is familiar in general with the Star Wars Expanded Universe, confirm that the Star Wars (in-particular the IV to VI -era Imperial ships) are well balanced?

I remember having to spend aages balancing them out for myself in X3R. I don't think there was a single ship that I did not have to change the stats for.

I suspect that these are exactly the same ships I had to rebalance, just ported to to X3TC with minor (i.e. weapon only) adjustments?

Also I notice there is not a single M8 listed there -- Tie Bomber anyone?

It would be fantastic if those who create the models would give permission to those who intimately know the fiction surrounding them to balance them appropriately (bearing in mind the X3TC setting of course - fair enough you can't expect perfect correlation with the originals).

Anyway I noticed the Star Wars Corellian Corvette is an M2... Odd because in Episode 4 it fits into the external hanger of a Star Destroyer :P

According to uploaded stats - three quarters of all players... thankfully most of them won't be offended by your humourous post since they won't come here!

But even one offended reader would mean that TC S&M Posting Rules have been clearly breached. And I'm still considering whether I am that reader. :sceptic:

Besides, the "statistics" are badly skewed because there is little point uploading modded stats.
