Working as intended.

{Pirates}, {Unknown}, {Independant}, {Neutral Race}, {Friendly Race}, {Race 2}, and {Yaki 19} stay grey.

Sorry it's the limitation that we have to deal with.

Ok...new issue. After uninstalling Betty no longer says the sector names. Is it related to this or something else?

I guess, yeah, somehow betty won't read out the sector name. No biggy, I can deal with it.

But with the new colored sectors, finding your mission sector is a lot harder since only the first letter of the sector name has that mission orange color. Triple hard if the mission sector is a Split one...

Hmm.
Spoiler
Show
I didn't think of making the names still be spoken, for those that can be spoken.
So, I'll work on getting them all spoken.
Sorry about the orange sector color, not much we can do unless we want the xenon/kha'ak sectors to be orange and split to be red. I believe there are less missions in Xenon/Kha'ak sectors.

Opinions on changing the race related to the color Orange?

edit: After looking at how to pass the spoken names to the colored names, I realized why I didn't do it in the first place. We can either have the names spoken, or have the first letter available to search for sectors via the keyboard.

Sounds great but didn´t work for me :(

I´ve installed:

- Lucike´s Script Collection
- Cadius Xtra Ships
- Combat Mod
- Immersive Environment
- Improved Races
- Pirate Guild 3
- STO
- Galactic News System

Worked fine together so far...
I indstalled your scripts with the requirements. The Script Editor was activated before so i did 3 times the - SAVE & LOAD - Method to reiinitial the scripts.
Then it seems to be installing (Message below that it installs / 5min something like that).

The music stopped in an endless loop and the game stopped so that you cant do anything. I waited 20 minutes but nothing happened the game freezed.

Is there a known conflict with my mods & scripts or whats up with this?

Thanks in advance!

Did you install that MD control thingy in the first post before you install the color sector name mod?

Infinite loop crash is probable due to not having the latest version of the color extraction.

I'll look into it, perhaps I need another requirement check.

Version 2
Sector descriptions are back!
It's more efficient and all known bugs are squashed.

Probably the final version, except to add compatibility for ETNO and others as time passes.
I have tested it with a X3TC vanilla version first and then with XTC mod.
So far it's working great !

Thank a mil. :)

It has been my pleasure to make this. Tough at times, however I learned a lot.
I hope you continue to enjoy it, especially after X3TC v3.1. I received an email stating that the blank messages should be fixed in the next update.

New version v2.1 uploaded

Changes
  • Forgot to update the STO portion.
  • Added debug output.
    • (While in-game, use the script editor to edit 'plugin.dynamic.colored.sector.names'. Change $debug = 0 to $debug = 1)
  • You can now use SETA while it installs

@Anti-Paranoid
If it still locks up enable the debug mode and go to C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Egosoft\X3TC and link me the file: log09874.txt

So for the new update, we just copy over all the new files? Because I made a spk version of your mod so I can install it through manager and keep tracks of what mods I've installed.

I think I will make a new spk with the 2.1 update and send it to you to put it in the front page.

Thank you Spectre.

I tend to do everything manually and have forgotten about spks.

Wow. Thats great news about a possible color bug fix. Thanks for your part in getting the ball rolling on that.

Colored ship/sector names really make the game that much more vibrant.

Currently it does not.
Give me a week or so and I'll make it happen.

This mod is great, installed and ran fine as documented 8) :)

one question - Is it possible for me to rename the sector with the HUB in? Currently it says 'Unknown Sector' for me.

(Dynamic Colored Sector Names v2.1b,
MD Control v1.13a, Colored Object Fix v1.1b)
Win10 Home 64-bit, Intel i7-9750H @ 2.6GHz. NVidia GeForce RTX 2070 (8 GB). 16 GB ram.
