Question(s) on extracting models to make 3d prints

So I am working through extracting the files from TC to make a few 3D prints for myself (yay for access to 3d printers/3ds max via work). But I am running into what I hope is a simple issue. I am working on the Heavy Centaur right now and the exported (from X3 Editor 2) scene loads (in X3 model viewer) the ship, turrets but only the base part of forward guns, missing the barrels. However when I load the ship via the ships menu, everything is there. I have extracted the entire objects\ships folder so I don't think I missed a part?

Once the above is figured out, do I need to run the converter on all the parts of the scene to then load the scene in 3DSMax? My hope was to load the scene, remove what I didn't need (if anything), and export everything to obj/stl for printing.
