[X3TC] - My First M6 EVER!

Post by Mirage Trading Inc » Thu, 4. Nov 10, 17:33

Title is kinda a lie... i did have a Vidar. but i sold it cause im a moron..
i also had a few in reunion :)

I just decided i would get an M6 ...The Split Dragon...

i like the look of it (anything bigger than an M3 argon wise looks retarded)

i love the speed.. being faster than my Rust bucket Nova M3 Normal

Although i am struggling trying to work out which Weps would be best... bit annoyed about lack of PRGs  (i love them due to the fact they rip shields of M3s to M5s like they are made of swiss cheese)

1.) Would anyone like to help me figure how to gear up my dragon...
2.) What Shall i call her...
3.) Which M6 do you use and why?... ( i go for pure looks and Speed )

Many Thanks

Aye, the Dragon is a nice ship. Good first corvette if you're on a budget, and a pretty good survivor when piloted with care and skill. Its loadout gunwise would probably be best with HEPTs, PBGs or PBEs (or a mix of them) in main, maybe:

4 groups, weapons in slots:
4x HEPT for longish range power hitting,
2 or 4x PBG for quick fighter toasting in a furball: the Dragon dies quick if surrounded
If you didn't include the extra 2 PBGs, or can't get any, 2 or 4x PBE, for capping and shield stripping purposes. Swapping groups to your HEPTs once enemy shields are down can kill very quickly.
Group 1: all. For battleships when you have full laser energy.
Group 2: 4x HEPT
Group 3: Any PBG
Group 4: Any PBE.

Turret choice is limited and firepower is minimal, so a PBE or PAC for missile/drone/M5 defence is best. Please note I am not responsible death by Hammerhead/firestorm due to use of PBE in missile defence.

As for the name, you should decide that: it's your ship. :)

I generally use either the Vidar, Springblossom or Dragon for general use as corvettes, but when I want to look cool I fly the Heavy Nemesis.
Allergic to work.

i decided to go for the PaC missle diffence turret (i have had BAD BAD expirences with one a few of these)

im now trying to find a PBG forge that lets me dock -.-'

Thanks for the reply :)

1) Two options: Capital killer, using it's speed to bring it's 8 MD's and 930 cargo bay worth of ammo into range to shred it without bothering about the shields.

Or, Fighter killer with PBG's.

Either option definitely wants the Bonus Pack Turbo Booster. The former for sliding in under the hail of fire from the caps, the latter for catching those pesky M4's and M5's. Or getting away from the oppositions PBG's. :D

2) Quickfang

3)P and PX are both great at their job. Neither mounts PBG's but have the ability to do tons of damage with PAC's. Or a mix of ISR's and HEPT's.

I also like the Pirate Osprey which has PBG's on the front and in both the left and right turrets. Very nasty against fighter swarms of all descriptions.

I have to say the turbo booster makes such a big difference to fighting capital ships with corvettes.

Amazing.

Im still undecided on my ship name... even asked the GF to help lol...

What would be good for OOS fights?... just full hepts or?.. (i know OOS combat is kinda instant hit 100% accuracy type thing...at least i think)

im not a fan of the booster any of the turbo mods i've tried lol...

Many Thanks

MTI.

1) I like shoot 'n' scoot-tactics, so I tend to go with 8 HEPTs or 8 EBCs up front and PBEs or PACs in the turret. Empty the laser bank in whatever is in front of you, use the speed to run away while your laser is recharging, and wash, rince, repeat til either you or your enemy is dead. I also tend to carry a couple of torpedos and some Tempests for long range engagements and/or weeding out escorts.

2) Whenever I own a Dragon I name it Vermithrax, after the dragon from the Dragonslayer movie.

3) Heavy Dragon. It's a bit slower, but it has 200 MJ extra shielding and 2 extra slots in the turret for killing those annoying M5s, since the abysmal turning rate of the M6 means you can't bring your main guns to bear most of the time.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am :D

Pretty Decent name :)

im kinda same with the shoot and scoot.... if i fly solo in and M3 towards a kha'ak cluster i go poof dead, in a fancy light show of death and destruction lol...

i like to use passangers as "flares" for missles for very close contact 8)

i am finding it very hard to turn with my dragon  so im escorting it arround insted of what i wanted lol (hense why i also asked OOS wep load out :D )

 I think the Dragon is the epitome of manouverability after far too long spent in M7s and bigger.
As for an OOS loadout, give it the strongest guns it can, so full ISR/CIG in the main and probably HEPT in the turret.
Allergic to work.

Clusters are easy. I launch a Firestorm and move on. Some people think that's too expensive, and while I don't agree, launching two Banshee Missiles works just as well, but requires you be a LOT closer, which is problematic if something like a recon ship breaks the cluster before they hit. A Firestorm doesn't worry about that though. :D

What M6 do I use? The Hyperion Vanguard

It's nearly as fast as the dragon (only the Springblossom significantly outpaces it), good acceleration and maneuvering, largest cargo bay by far, biggest laser generator, strong shields, and uniquely for an M6, can dock 2 M3s with it. The only drawbacks are that it's shield regen rate is merely average and the rear guns can only mount IREs and PACs. A capture-only ship, but well worth the effort 8)

Grats on your pickup there.

1) Haven't flown a dragon personally, so I can't say with any real certainty what load out would be best, but for some reason my other commonwealth M6's always carried a mix of CIG's and PBE's up front...don't know why, I just like the mix.

2) As for naming, I would personally name my dragon Fafnir, as that was the dragon that granted Sigmund his near-immortality.

3) Still cruising my Vidar with 6x EMPC's and 4x Ladies (MA/AM's) up front and EMPC's in the turrets...as that's the only thing that can go in the turrets...
Just shredded my first Q with it though...almost felt bad for it.
