This game sounds a bit like GTAIV in space. No bad thing I love GTA. In the respect there will be lots of ships in highways to interact with.
Will we be able to say open comms with random ships and see if they have missions along the normal bbs style or has that gone too.
Also this 'one player ship' style. Does this mean that as the game progresses and the player modifies his ship does this mean no two player ships will be alike if you could line them up. Will you be able to modify your ship beyond all recognition from the basic unit?
Interaction and ship question.

Perhaps being able to add :
1) A 32 ship hangar module.
2) Variety of weapons modules to carry in the hold.
3) Various travel pods or smaller forms of transport, that could be armed or specialised into various types of platforms on a modular level ?
4) Transport capability for large point to point jump engines.
Who knows.

I hope the ship upgrades come in interchangeable branches of specialization, rather than linearly.
It would be nice if the player could upgrade his ship into a slow, heavily-shielded, drone carrier with little direct fire capability, but also be able to convert it into a maneuverable, hard-hitting dogfighter with low shielding and drone capacity.
The player being able to mix-and-match abilities to complete tasks differently would add a great deal of replayability and work towards placating those who were disappointed with not being able to fly different ships.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.
