Good missiles for M6?

Post by sadron » Mon, 20. Feb 12, 23:00

So I've got like 7 Heavy Centaur Prototypes that I've captured (I'm such a prototype whore. 10 Blastclaws!) And I was wondering what missile arrangement would be good for them to use.

Just saying it forward: I give everyone 2 posts to make good, in context posts(proper english, as always, is optional). After that I'm ignoring what you have to say in that thread that's directed to what we previously were talking about.

I second the typhoon. All around awesome missile for it's size. Wasps or hurricanes work well for swatting anything the typhoon can't hit.

I favour Hurricanes. Wasps seem have a nasty habit of wasting enough speed on the spiral action they do that they never get close enough to go into final attack mode and actually hit the target.

Otherwise, Thunderbolts and Typhoons rock, and a few Firestorms for when you're in a blind spot and want to bring the boom are handy.

Don't discount the Tornado. It's a multiple warhead missile, like the Typhoon, but does 50k damage per warhead to the Typhoon's 30k. It is a dumbfire missile, but that also means it doesn't actively seek a target, and so the target tends to ignore it. And at 312m/s, they're much faster than a Typhoon. I find Tornadoes great for taking out multiple Q's, especially if I'm flying a corvette. :)

On the Tornado, I've noticed the AI leading targets rather well with it, though it's rare that they stay on target long enough to get all the warheads to hit.
Allergic to work.

If at first you don't succeed, delegate the job to a minion.

I've had them 'lead the target well enough' on me a couple of times, much to my dismay.

I use nothing but Hornets in M6's. But then I generally only fly them to board other M6's and each hornet is equal to one 200MJ shield, so I know how many to launch pretty easily.

Tornadoes are a little bit bigger than typhoons if I remember correctly. Pretty solid missile even though it's dumbfire. The only thing I don't like about it is it takes a fair bit of time for all the missiles to fire.
