So I started to create some pirate variants of some of the capital ships. Posting this here for feed back. Planning on putting this out as resource type mod when done, that will be free for anyone to use as long as they give credit.

I like the brighter one, #2 i think, the most ( after all, Pirates like to be better seen, and feared - well, at least in such a mighty ship, i´d imagine ^^ ). But, a red one, with flames, or kind of scary birdies, would be quite cool, imo
The only thing is - where do i get such one if playing XRM?

"Only fools seek power, and only the greatest fools seek it through force".
I am thinking of putting out a version for vanilla and XRM. My idea is to also make pirate skins for Boron, and Terran. And also modify the Yaki skin of the Paranid ships from XRM for a more pirate look, though that would have to stay in the XRM patch version. The idea basically being to fill the wholes of pirate Capitals left by XRM.
The issue with doing that is illustrated with my first attempt. I put on each plate texture patterns that were either in the form of an X or =. As you can see you can barely see either pattern in the final results because of the way the texture are applied due to the fact that the ship has so many sharp edges and angles. I am though looking into making the pattern itself bigger so when looking at the ship you might be able to see more details.
