[HALP] Max is being a pill (about textures)

Post by Mechanis » Fri, 30. May 14, 23:43

So I'm on a fresh install of Max, got everything set up....

only it's now refusing to display or render textures from X.

like, at all.

this is, needless to say, highly irritating when I'm trying to finish a release delayed for almost a year and a half due to fried motherboard and being poor. any hints?
(DDS plugin installed, max nine, DBOX, X-editer, X3TC, and a fully extracted X3 texure library in a 'dds' directory for modling use. this all worked fine, but I'm sure all I'm forgetting is some simple step to get it working that I've forgotten in the 3+ years since I first set up the modding environment :D )

Pics Or It Didn't Happen

Post by Mechanis » Sat, 31. May 14, 02:32

update: I took some screenshots:

weirdness in the Material editor

attempting to render, step 1: missing files popup
attempting to render, step 2: navigated to /dds directory (full path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\dds )
attempting to render, step 3: that... does not look right...

and then it's still missing textures. it also seems to not remember the path I input either, since a fresh render gives me a blank box of paths.

it is verra strenge :S
