X3AP Terran rep repair?

Post by strask412 » Tue, 25. Apr 17, 20:31

I guess in my past playthroughs I got my terran rep up before starting on the albion plot, so the required war missions didn't trash it entirely. This time I failed to do that.

So my race rep with the terrans is now low enough that I can't dock at any of their stations, and I want to repair it so I can buy matter-antimatter warheads to complete the shady business plot.

They aren't openly hostile to me, that is they don't shoot me on sight. But without any ability to do missions for them I am not sure what my next best option is.

I tried killing some argon in the war zones, but that dropped my argon rep significantly without seeming to change my terran rep at all, so I don't think that works?

Any tips would be appreciated. Also appreciated would be the sad news that I simply cannot repair this, if that is indeed the case.

Edit: It would also be helpful if someone knows how I can source a few hundred M/AM warheads without fixing my terran rep. :)

Try it in a war zone controlled by the Terrans and see if that helps. Otherwise, you can sometimes find Xenon and Pirates in Terran space. Kill them and your rep should improve. Be aware that if your rep is very low, you'll need to do a lot of killing to make a significant improvement.

It's always repairable. You just have to put in the effort.

If you don't care about your Terran rep, look for Terran traders in Terran space. You should be able to find a few carrying the warheads, although it may take a while.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

X4 is a journey, not a destination. Have fun on your travels.

Thanks so much for your reply.

I decided I didn't care that much about terran rep so I went hunting for transports carrying the M/AM warheads I needed, as you suggested. Dodged my way through the core terran sectors (where my rep was too low to be officially allowed) and out into the oort cloud area.

And that's when I found a terran freighter who wanted an escort! So I escorted the freighter, blew up some argon aggressors, and my rep was suddenly good enough to do station missions again. :D

After a few hours of grinding missions I'm a Hero of Sol and only lost one rank of argon rep. :)

You can drop sector traders in Terran sectors. Slow but steady rep increase!
X fanatic. More of an X3 fanatic.
What about X4? Nah, I prefer a space simulator rather than a walking simulator.

I always found that just by hanging around you'd eventually see some pirates in a Terran sector. Kill pirates, instant rep increase sufficient to dock and trade your way further up the ranks.

What was your rep with them before that escort mission?

Though I know you have already solved your problem, still here is an alternative approach to sourcing those warheads: do what you did in terms of getting through those core sectors out to what I call "Exo-Sol" (or you can take the back-door through the Xenon sectors - similar challenges), and then lurk around looking for Terran weapons dealers and military transports. Scan those until you find one carrying lots of warheads, shoot off his shields, then comm him and encourage him to divest himself of his burden. You may need to be insistent... Collect dropped warheads, engage jumpdrive... ;)

An alternative alternative, yet more conventional and also far more laborious, way to do it is to kill LOTS of Terran ships of M6 size and greater, and loot the occasional dropped warheads - but they seldom drop more than a couple/few at a time, so you will need to do this for a long time (Yokohamas are pretty consistent targets for this, but of course you need to be able to take them down... and their escorts, and any nearby Terran ships that engage you while you are at your depredations.)

Happy hunting :)
