NEWS: X Rebirth VR Edition, Updates and X4

I think one of the other big changes that would improve X4 over XR is a re-analysis of the power upgrade curve.
What I mean, is that often in X3, you would start the game in an M4 or M5, with a couple of useless weapons, and maybe a couple of dozen MJ of shielding.
Working through the game, you would upgrade to new ships with a much greater number of far more powerful weapons, and a GJ or more of shielding, like an M6.
Basically, your power goes up by a factor of hundreds, if not thousands.
XR never had this. The ship with all the best equipment was only a few times more powerful than it was at the beginning of the game.
We want our RPG back.

Any news on x4? Been awhile since announcement. Would be nice to have devs talking more about it during development I mean kick starter game devs can do it I dunno why you are so tight lipped all the time tbh. Doubt the publisher would care tbh and if they do so what just state the usual "subject to change from final version" should be good enough.
Please more transparency during development please.

There are some questions answered in the "10 questions for the devs" thread.

Thanks for thatlinolafett wrote:There are some questions answered in the "10 questions for the devs" thread.
We are now in the last calendar month of Q2 of 2017? Can anyone at Egosoft tell us if they currently believe they are on track for the "Early-Access" release (presumably via Steam) of the VR version of X-Rebirth?
In addition, is VR support on the cards for X4?
Finally, is XR:VRE going to be a cross-VR solution OR restricted to a specific VR headset/API?

CBJ are you able to tell us when we will get further information on X4? I check the forum most days but literally no news for months other than the 10 questions that were answered in a forum post. I don't mind waiting as I think its best to take your time with it, but are you able to tell me when the next release of information regarding X4 will be, getting tired of checking forums daily with nothing new.CBJ wrote:What's stopping you discussing X4 on this forum, in English, as everyone else has been for some time? There are plenty of threads speculating about it already, including several on the subject of flyable ships.
Thanks

No, I'm afraid I can't. There's a little more than just that one forum post, but we're not ready to make any big announcements. When we are ready, though, you can be sure that we'll make it as widely available as possible. Make sure you're signed up for X-News, for example, as we normally follow up a big announcement with an issue of X-News.
We are going to be making XRVR available using Steam's Early Access program very soon, but we may well miss our original target of 1H17 by a few days. We're now aiming for early-to-mid July.maggaen wrote:Is X:R VR still on track?
We're aiming to support both Vive and Oculus systems by the time of full release.Roger L.S. Griffiths wrote:...is XR:VRE going to be a cross-VR solution OR restricted to a specific VR headset/API?

Does that mean the initial Beta is going to only support one of them? If so, can you tell us which one?CBJ wrote:We're aiming to support both Vive and Oculus systems by the time of full release.Roger L.S. i would say they are working on both simultaneously and will publish the first which is good enough for testing (like doesnt crash randomly after a few minutes or where key features bug out) so its pretty much random which one - this is just my personal guess though..
if not stated otherwise everything i post is licensed under WTFPL

Thanks for the info. As an Oculus owner I am eager for this version.UniTrader wrote:disclaimer: this is just my personal guessRoger L.S.
