The journalist who led the Panama Papers investigation into corruption in Malta was killed on Monday in a car bomb near her home.

Just a quick blurb on a topic of general interest, usually: Bannerlord Devblog: How history influences game construction
How often are we faced with corruption, right in front of us, and we look away?
This is what happens when we look away.
"And, that's the end of that..." said the corrupt official, probably. :/Tracker001 wrote:The journalist who led the Panama Papers investigation into corruption in Malta was killed on Monday in a car bomb near her home.

So I don't normally listen to political speeches, but I've just listened to the George W. Bush Speech. I got to say WOW, while he never mentions anyone in particular, have a listen and see if you can work out just who he is taking a dig at.

THIS JUST IN! CALLING ALL STAR CONTROL VETS!

Yes, that's right - "Star Control Origins." Let's pray they don't screw it up... Star Control II is still a wonderful game, today. You can get it free, here, completely legally. It's the laserdisk version, so it has integrated voice dialogue and animations.

IT'S STILL GOOD! And, yes, you can still play "arcade" mode!
@felter - Yeah, I watched that speech. It was pretty impressive. Obama did one as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some consensus going on between those two and, perhaps, other leaders.

I read the announcement for that, posted by one of the astronomers, on... imgur (reddit-kinda) a couple of days ago.OmegaKnight wrote:First Interstellar Comet, designation: C/2017 U1, PanSTARRS
It's amazing that informal social media sites can get "news" out quicker than official ones.
This is definitely in the realm of "pretty darn cool stuff."
Wonder if 'she' has to wear a burqa.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Probably wasn't the robot's first choice...burger1 wrote:Robot granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia....
Well, at least it will have healthcare.
(A really dumb publicity stunt, but I guess SA has made more of a statement regarding the worth of being an SA citizen rather than the actual value of this robot's... rights.)

I was going to post some confined space cooling fans driven by air pressure. There's also a type that uses a physical phenomenon I can't quite remember the name of. (Not "venturi", the other one...) That sort of funnel-like instrument ends up sort of separating hot air from cooler air using a turbine effect, something like the venturi effect, but specifically to "blow cold air." Of course, you have to have an exhaust for both types. Heat has to move somewhere and not directing it out of the area is... stoopid.
So, when I went to find a quick link, the first thing I ran across was this site that has, right on the front page, the same high-volume fans used in the video, it seems. If so, that explains the noise a bit - They're pneumatic explosion-proof (intrinsically safe) non-sparking fans. I didn't double check the vid again, but it looks like they used those unless they found an electric version. (Could be, since mfrs use the same cases for both, most likely.)

If you don't mind paying for the power, you can cool the crap out of computer. You won't be powering the system through a USB 3.0 port, though. Maybe a USB 9.5 port.... in a few decades.

And, now for something completely different...
"The Kennedy Papers" have been... partially released. (Some bits have been redacted at the last minute due to requests of national security agencies... )

The rabbit-hole that tinfoilers leap down on a daily basis, but at least it's moderated, so it's got that going for it. Lots of discussions there on this latest fuel for the Conspiracy Fire. (Jet fuel can't burn hot enough to melt The Kennedy Papers...)
