what type of system will i need to run X4?
happy to see a new X game.
question.
my system at this time is a
i3-2120 with a HD 7770 2gb card.
i know this is not going to cut it.
my board can go to a i7-3770. but if i can get away with it a i5-3570 would be nice.
and i cound put a GTX 1050 Ti 4gb in it.
but will that run X4?
or is it best to New system. with a i5-8600
if i go the new system route i have to update in stages!
over months of time. it will be about 2019 before it was finshed!
i would start with CPU Motherboard and 8gb of Ram. and when the money get back up GFX and other bit's like 8gb more ram.
so what to do?
question.

System requirements for X4: Foundations haven't been announced yet. (The ones on Steam are just a placeholder.) Therefore, I'd suggest to wait until actual system requirements have been mentioned, which usually happens shortly before release. Once those are available, you can plan your PC upgrade.

that's is one of the idea's i had.Miniding wrote:I suggest you to upgrade your CPU/RAM/Motherboard at first and wait the latter for the choose of a graphc card…
Best way to plan it IMO
thing is i got this guy on some other forum pushing me to get the GTX 1060.
and the i5-3470.
so can we all agree, that intel 3rd Gen Cpu's are not going to cut it. so i can get on with picking a Motherboard i can not brick.....
when it come down to it. that all i need to know. will a intel 3rd Gen Cpu. just be to slow? guess work is fine. i know hard point of info are a no go at this time.....
I'd second the suggestion of getting a 6GB GTX 1060 if you can. It's significantly better than a 1050 Ti and should be able to handle X4/most games at 1080p.
CPUs haven't come nearly as far, so for most games the i5-3470 should be just fine. It's true that X games are traditionally more CPU intensive, but with the engine hopefully more optimised for modern processors I doubt it would be too slow to play.

It's not that CPUs aren't getting better (they are), it's the consumer software (games included) that isn't catching up. Rebirth, apparently, scales pretty good with multiple cores though, so we can expect the same from X4.
If guesswork is fine, see how Rebirth performs on that CPU as Skeeter mentioned, that should give you an idea.
I'd also second going for a good GPU first.

I'm just waiting for the cryptocurrency mining bubble to fully burst so graphics card prices can have a chance to come down before I upgrade mine. My GTX 960 works great for everything I have.Miniding wrote:I suggest you to upgrade your CPU/RAM/Motherboard at first and wait the latter for the choose of a graphc card…

With a low budget, I think you can look at a i7 3770 not the 3770k.
Try to find a reasonnable 1060 or 1070.
DDR3 price should not be a problem.
Your processor will be the bottleneck, so if you can find a 3770k for some overclock, nice ! But a 3770 should do the work for very cheap !
Why a non K version ? because even if you can overclock, you'll need to delid the cpu, replace the thermal paste to avoid thermal throttle.
I have a i7 4770k, not so far ahead of the 3770 in terms of perf.
That's the budget upgrade i would recommend if you don't intend to overclock and want a nice boost and get everything and right now.
On a long term upgrade in 2 steps, ryzen 5 solution, but the DDR4 RAM price will kill the ability to buy any GPU at the same time. Then wait for volta and buy a used 1060-1070-1070Ti for cheap around august.
If you play in 1080p you don't realy need the high end stuff...

i do have X-rebarth. will give that a try. got it on steem never got around to playing it...... i know that is so so bad....
i just dont know...
we all agree that a i3-2120 (what i have now) cound be better?

and what a good chipset for AMD boards i know the intel is Z370. but what the amd one called?
Well, a ryzen 7 would be recommended if you do heavy load like video editing, 3D modeling and rendering, game streaming.
A ryzen 5 is mid-range and good enough for gaming. Not as good as the intel solution, but ryzen is the best value for money while cheaper than intel and not far behind in perfs.
The chipset is B350 i think, is the midrange too and will do the job.
I would recommend the Ryzen 5 1600, the lowest 6 cores and you should be able to overclock to 4Ghz if needed. The B350 tomahawk was recommended by famous and serious youtubers ( jayztwocents and linus tech tips ).
Then comes the 8GB of DDR4 that will hurt... Ryzen LOVES high speed and low latency memory. You're on a budget, so take the best compromise.

If you intend to upgrade only the CPU and stay on 3Gen ones… go for a bigger graphic but using a GTX 10 serie on a so old CPU does not seem to be smart to me…
It's far better to have a middle class average PC rather than a overpowered graphic card on a old one.

For a gaming purpose machine, a i7 3770 coupled with a 1070 is a damn good gaming machine ! It even is capable of VR to an extend.
I have a i7 4770k with a 1070Ti playing at 1080p. I have no problem to play games at all.
When i compare to benchmarks with a 3770 and a 1070Ti, performances are about the same...
On benchs, i can get 85%-90% from the 1070Ti with my old haswell, with a bit of OC, i can reach 95%. It's not a huge bottleneck. With a 3770, i think you can get around 85% of the 1070Ti.
If he goes with a 1060, would be the right CG for an i7 3770.

Mainstream CPU have 6 core, so real gaming budget cpu whit future proof is second hend b350+ and R5 1600, 8 gb ram, you can upgrade later on 8+8 core CPU. GPU is dizaster ATM, remeber that RX 480 was 200$ 2016, so this GPU performans in 2018 = 150$ not 350$.
This is good budget/futureproof 1080p gaming PC.
