Not all opinions are created equal. What XR apologist dont understand is that theyre a loud minority.Chips wrote: Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
Im obviously not dunking on the devs for the positive changes they made, but those that were negative were just so findamentally terrible, like the 90% downtime thing where youre in some kind of transit and no progress is being made in the background because automation is haram, that you cannot fix them without reevaluating the entire design philosophy behind them. XR has an incredibly faulty design philosophy around its ankle much like ye olden games have an outdated engine preventing them from evolving further. Until that ballast is dropped there no meaningful progress to be made.
Read the updated engine bit. What people mean when they say remaster is an engine port to an at least slightly better version that would alleviate some limitations on the existing engine, better optimization on modern hardware etc. If a remaster is just new ship skins and updated shaders I aint buyin.Chips wrote:You'd accept the same game repackaged with a bit of bling as a new title? That's your choice. Not everyone would share the sentiment.
Then dont call it X4, call it XR2. Oh wait they cant now because the XR title is radioactive and would tank sales before the game is even out. Its almost as if theres a lesson to be learned here. Clearly egosoft realized that the experiment didnt do well with the playerbase hence the return to mainline style naming conventions, they know who plays their games and they know who keeps their studio afloat. Now they just need to realize that the experiment failed legitimately, and not because people "dont get it", see misunderstood genius complex.Chips wrote:True, they may just be led by money and make what's asked for by "hardcore fans" (instead of everyone), but maybe they've grown tired of that and want to try something different
