Save files on different versions of X4

Hi,
According to Egosoft, X4 will be released in 2018. After it, some newer versions will follow adding more races, ships e.t.c.
My question is:
Is it possible that these new versions will load the save files of the first X4, preserving all my ships and factories that I have built?

We have managed to maintain savegame compatibility when installing updates and/or DLCs on an existing game in the past, and we fully intend to continue to try to do that in the future.
