System Override Software - How do i use it?

Just bought the System Override Software - i've no idea how to use it. Please help.

First, shoot a ship until the pilot bails. Make sure the ship is targetted. Then move your ship in real close, about 40m or so, and bring up the target ship's info menu, and click on Claim.

If Claim doesn't appear then I've got the distance wrong and you need to be closer.

I will sell it back to the pirates i think.
It olny saves me from ejecting > targeting > claiming > getting back in my ship!!
Not worth paying 600,000+ !!
...unless i have missed something?
