Logitech Wingman Force - No force feedback or centering force

Post by DaMaGe007 » Fri, 23. Dec 05, 13:49

I have a Logitech Wingman Force and there is no centering force (jstick is just sloppy) also there is no force feedback at all.

The Centering force is the one I really require, although Force Feedback would be nice, can this be added to the 1.4 list of fixes please ?

Thanks

I've got a feeling that this has been cleared up in a previous technical section post. Try checking there

I have read some of the J/stick posts and regarding the absence of Centering and they mention using a RTC.exe which will override the game.

This is nothing but lazyness on the part of egosoft, and why should the drivers need updating when they work for most if not all other games.

they even have a section to select force feedback in the menu for joystick options, if it is never going to work why is it still there ?

If this isnt fixed I wont be buying another egosoft product, ive just had enough....

My Saitek Cyborg Evo FFeedback JStick has centering force, and I think i configure it in the software that came with the stick.
Damage007 have you checked the software or the control panel option for your jstick to see if there is an option in there for the Force centering or strength of the FFeedback RecoilSpring?

I just checked and sadly there is no option to force it to center, this may be the Driver update that CBJ mentioned microsoft werent supporting anymore.

Do you get any Force feedback at all Dread ? (or just centering)

Perhaps when ego get around to adding Force Feedback my problem will go away...

I don't get centering but do get FFB, ever so slightly, when I hit something as well. Of course, my FFB2 is old and like they said, the evil empire of Microsoft doesn't support it any longer. I just hate to get rid of a perfectly good joystick. :(

I don't get centering
In FF Sticks the FF technology controls the stick when it springs back to the centre - you know if you hold it left for example and let go the stick centers itself. Well in FF sticks (well mine anyways) the stick is loose and stays in whatever position you push it and does not re center itself unless you have the Force Center set to on (or set to a re center strength for mine) so if your stick already centers when you let go I would not worry about it. As for the support from MSoft for your stick......erm yeah
If you decide to get a new stick I can recommend the Saitek Cyborg Evo FF, had mine 6 months now and love it.

Its called forced redundancy and is somthing that age of empires3 did to windows 2000, its aimed at making you a consumer even when you are happy with what you have.

I actively boycott them when they do this, I dont buy micro$oft games anymore...

Ego could provide a tickbox work around in thier J/stick setup program though but I wont hold my breath.

Rattler what stick do you have, as if you have the same stick as Damage007 maybe you can provide some drivers to get his stick working? Just a thought floating in my head where there should have been a brain!

YES, I have the drivers for the Microsoft Force Feedback 2 joystick. I'll hunt them up right now and see how large the files are. If you guys want them, PM me with your email address and I'll hurry them along for you.

OK Gents,
I'm trying to send the driver package/full install to the supplied email addresses. Unfortunately, the provided addresses are rejecting the files due to protocol for incoming file size (Almost 8 megs). Anyone have a website that I can place them in for others to download?

So does the Logitech joystick from the OP work at all? I was considering buying this joystick just for X3, but if it's a bit of a let down, I'll stick with my really really old gameport joystick until something better shows up. X2 / 3 is the only game I ever use it for, dunno why I bought it in the first place actually.......

There have been countless posts in tech support asking for more information on what force-feedback effects are supposed to be experienced. They have NEVER been answered.

CBJ has given a few insipid and vague replies (no offence intended) alluding to having tested X3 with many joystick models (one wonders why so many current models didn't work with 1.0 but hey ho) but has not said anything about force-feedback.

I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo Force and centering is fine as it can be activated within the config program, however I get NO feedback effects at all, except when I collide with something. Given that I get decent substantial and appropriate effects when playing Klingon Academy (released in 2000) I find this aspect of X3 most disappointing.
