How to turn off shadows

The game is a little bit laggy. I can only put the shadows on low. How do I turn them off completely.

Any other suggestions to reduce lag.

Other than the baics.

I am Well over the "reccomended" specs.

if ur well over recommended specs and ur settings are all low, then u shouldn't really have trouble with lag at all

the main thing that seems to cause lag on X3 is lack of processing power, so freeing up as much of the CPU as you can is a good start

Well I have an ATI X850 and AMD 2.4 Ghz, 2 Gig DDR, and its the only thing on the spare hard drive.

Drivers are current and this is the only game I have which gives lag.

The manual says if you are having lag problems that you should turn off shadows.

Suggestions?

The lag is basically the worst when at 1000x seta drive.

I think its drawing too many particals with the starlight passing effect.

Please help.

Yeah, ignore it. The manual is incorrect there, as there are no shadows.
