Indeed, you are obsessed :roll: . I've been waiting from the moment it was announced on this title (when it was still called X-Tract, somewhere around april 2001), so it doesn't bother me if it comes out the 11th or the 18th. In fact, I'll have to wait til February, as I don't like the boxart of the US-version, and since I'm planning on upgrading my computer in the first quarter of next year, it's more ideally to start playing then with all the bells and whistles on :D ....

I'd now expect the 17th to be more realistic. Enlight and Egosoft anounce the gold news and a schedule indicating 2 weeks. Therefore I'd be more inclined to believe that the 17th is more likely.

I used to think EB had reliable release dates, I sent them an email about my pre-order for X2, and when i should expect it to arrive because they say 11/10/03. Thier response made it so now i think they are full of shit, lol.

This is a portion of the email.

"If a game is scheduled for release far in the future, the publisher may
not even give us a date. In those cases we rely on the collective wisdom
of our buying staff to estimate a date based on their knowledge of the
industry and the publisher's history"

So basically they are saying if they are not given a date by the publisher, then they just pull a date out of thier asses and say that is when the game is going to be releases. :roll:

from what i have seen is that games are actually shipped out from the publisher to the distributors/shops in advance...it is the distributors duty to hold the game until the release date announced by the publisher.

Otherwise known as "we're making it up as we go along in the hope that nobody notices" :D Publishers and retail do that A LOT. Hell, Neverwinter Nights never had a release date and was in development for about five years, yet you could always find stores stating it would be released for christmas two years before it even went gold :wink:

I was told that my local store will get X2 on 11/11/03 and that they would call me to pick it up.

but then they'll end up bumping up the release date and releasing it on the 12th so you end up missing 6 days of the game when you come out of your drug coma on the 18th =)
