No matter what i do, my Paranid reputation won't increase. :x
It seems to be stuck at 0 % Unholy Nomad.
At one point i destroyed an M6 class ship that was an enemy to the Paranid, and even got the message that i had gone up from Unholy Nomad to a couple of ranks higher Friend of Priest Duke, but it then immediatly shot back down to 0% Unholy Nomad again. I can even watch it change in the Pilot Statistics menu!!!!

Has anyone else experienced this? Its really annoying, cause i want to buy a docking computer.

Can anyone help me.

You wouldn't happen to have done a few of the plot missions, would you?

It's plot related. You need to advance/finish the main story.

I had not proceeded very much through the story line - the last mission I finished was getting one with tracking the ship piloted by that mafia sounding guy- Don something. Maybe mission 2 or 3?

But I have raised my Paranid reputation and it has stayed at the height I raise dit to- has not dropped suddenly...

Will the storyline kill my reputation with them in the future? I'd like to know so that I don't attempt to raise it anymore than I already have

Fraggle!
Stupid plot-related race rep hits!!
I had just moved my "relation-building" team (6-8 fully improved ships of various classes from M5 - M3, TS, & TP) into Paranid Prime to look for BBS missions to improve my Paranid relations to allow me to buy a Perseus.
I was about 60% of the rank below the rank I needed.
While they were travelling I figured I'd take my shiny new Mamba Raider off to carry out a few plot missions.
Imagine my horror when my fleet had just finished docking in various Paranid Prime stations and they closed the border and dropped my rank to Unholy Nomad!
That's about 15-20Million credits worth of ships tied up where I can't get them out.
Add to that the fact that you can't keep ships docked in a station - they get booted out occasionally. When they get booted out they die fairly quickly.
I lost both the M5s, I jumped everyone else out other than one TP whose jump drive seems to be missing for some reason.
As the only ship still there he's likely to survive though - single ships don't get booted out of stations very often.
Grrrrrrr....

I can't continue with the plot.

I've tried contacting Argon One, that woman and the old Goner Man, but nothing seems to kick start the storyline. I was on the mission where i had to find someones daughter in Thuruks Pride.

Can anyone help?

Sure - there is a thread near the top with hint and tips... one is a link to a walkthrough - had to use it myself twice.

I think you go to thuruks pride (ask passing frighters) and pick up the story line there. Check the trading port and bbs then pop over to the mine (I recall) and comm them.

Also at the end of one of the mission there is a cut scene whilst the station blows up - as soon as this starts press escape otherwise it may crash the comp...

Oh boy... Try this one on for size.

I bought my first carrier, an Argon Colossus... I had just sent it down to Trinity Sanctum in the hopes that I could pick up some 1 GJ shields in the sectors south of that which I have not explored yet. Figure I'd do a little plot on the way down way down.

Bad move.

Uhm... I hope my carrier survives the trip back to Argon space. Some weapons, and 125 MJ shields, and 10 Nova for defense... but.... <crosses fingers>

It didn't make it... well, there's about 100 million credits down the drain.

On a side note... the carrier died before the any of the M3 escorts even lost a bit of shields. Hmmm.....

Paranid

Post by Sirus5 » Tue, 7. Feb 06, 09:31

What I found was that when you do the plot, at the mission where you do the spy drones I think that is where the Paranid drop your reputation - until you have finished the plot....

You will not be able to dock in Paranid core sectors (those with Shipyards and the surrounding sectors, BUT you will be able to dock in some of the sectors which are not classified as major sectors - I can dock in a few of them - I am not sure about Empires Edge - have a look at that and the one a couple or so south of Paranid Prime where there is an equipment dock....

You may be able to get a docking computer at one of the docks which is not in a Paranid Core sector..

Oh, and the Paranid should not attack you, they just ignore me.

Paranid

Post by Sirus5 » Tue, 7. Feb 06, 11:20

Oooops, I was wrong, it is Emperors Ridge, the one 2 East and 1 South of Paranid Prime, you can dock there at the Equipment dock :) , but unfortunately, you have to be a friend of the priest to buy a Docking Computer

Just glad I got mine before I did that mission with the Spy drones.....

If I started again, there are a few things I would do...
(I started on X-Treme so this would be a good start)..

1. Start the plot Immediately and pick up the missiles from the Fighting in Mission 1. - and try very hard to shoot at least 1 Khaak in the first encounter.

2. In the second encounter, get behind the Khaak m3 (it's slow) and when the others have nearly killed it, fire like mad so I get credited with the kill, then collect all the missiles again (sell these at the EQ dock in that sector and get fight Mk1 at least)... Then get some E-Cells from Home of Light before visiting the Temple so that....

3. When dumped in Antigone memorial, jump immediately into "The Hole" to find the free missiles in the middle before the locals pick them up.

4. Make sure I have Fight Mk1 & 2 and then do "The Don" mission as these pirates are slow and easy to capture/kill as practice... Try and capture as many as possible and ignore saya's requests to jump but continue capturing (The Don always comes back)...

5. Swap to a Pirate Buster captured in "The Don's" mission and use the other captures to outfit it with 2 IONS, 2 PACS and 2 PSG...

6. Go and capture a few falcons to get a healthy bank balance.

7. Get the free Falcon Sentinel, Nova and Mamba Raider to form a raiding pary which will start killing pirates in Split, Boron & Paranid Space (so I can buy better goods).

8. Capture some more Falcons/Nova's etc. for more funds.

9. Get a few docking computers from the Paranid.

10. Get a little Split Jaguar from Cho's defeat and take it to Company Pride to start trading between Spp's and the other factories in that sector as Teladi don't up your rep with sorting pirates out, only trading and quick trades with a Jag are a good way to start upping your rep.

11. When doing the Yaki mission, have my pirate buster standing by with System override Software (as you can't eject to claim captures in this mission and dock, swap to the Buster then capture loads of Yaki M4's and M5's - the M4's are good for fighting as M4's which go faster than most and have 25mw shields, the M5's have 25mw Shields and go 477!!! and they can carry a jump drive!! - excellent jumpdrive equippers!
