Flying M1 or M0
Just a quick noob question about large ships that I keep seeing in the game. Is it possible to fly these giant ships like the M1 or M0 class or are we stuck in the M2 and higher classes?

1) In the Entire history of the X games there have been a gand total of 2M0s Neither have been playable, and neither have moved. There isn't one in X3 at all.
2) The tiny size of the sectors means bigger ships won't exactly have much room to manouver
3) Most significantly of all, the limiting size of jump gates means you won't ever get ships much bigger then M1s and M2s as they won't be able to go through the gates.

Generally speaking, in terms of effectiveness M2 and M1 are about the same, the difference is in how they operate.
The M2 is a pure gunboat, and it projects its firepower directly through lots and lots and lots of turrets. Most M2s can mount around 40 GPPCs, which will make short work of anything except maybe another M2. They cant all hit the same target at once though, so an M2 is really in its element in a fleet battle where theres hostiles swirling about all around it.
M1 is a carrier, it has powerful guns but not as much as the M2. It projects its firepower remotely, through a horde of fighters (which can potentially do a LOT more damage than an M2, but can also get shot down quickly). The M1 is faster than the M2, but is not as well shielded. Personally I prefer to fly an M2/M6/M3 and have the M1s stay away from the fight (equipped with flak/hept in case anything gets cheeky) and provide fighter support.
