Gotta Alpha Kyon Thingy
Ok, i was doing the the mission where you have to escort the 3 Mammoth's and one of the ka'ack scouts dropped a Alpha kyon Emmiter. I got screenshots, but i dont have a website to put them on, so if you doubt me i can put screenshots up id you give me a website other than imageshack (Not interested in site that says "Free Porn") It sells for about 5k, Not very much.
If it's only worth 5000, sell it. The Khaak M3's, that sit in the centre of the clusters, carry bean weapons that you can sell for over a mil The small Khaak's carry a single beam weapon that's worth about 800 000 credits. The M3's carry 3 beam weapons.
I tried my hand at capping over the weekend, good way to make money. I use a Argon Nova with two Beta HEPT's and two ION's (switch between them using the 1 and 2 keys). If you have not tried capturing enemy ship, read Al's guide on this! Very good.
The Khaak beam weapons work nicely though, I kept one of the 7 or so Khaak M3's that I captured. I repaired and upgraded it and installed 3 of the expensive beam weapons in it. It's docked in my Crystal Fab in the Wall. I have taken it for a test run, but must still see how well it works in combat...

Far as I understand it ..
The odds of getting a ship you can mount those weapons on are about 10 times as low as the odds of you winning the lottery ..
I still keep buyin' tickets and giving M3s time to bail .. but no luck on either.
Even so I am still carrying them around in my 'fleet tender' which is basically a freighter that follows me and I pile all the weapsons I find into it. Anything else, I jump my UT in, get it to hoover up whatever's there and then set him off again
Tip : Can be very handy having a transporter on your personal vessel. Since it's faster than a TS/TP, you can collect stuff 'til full thm beam it all in, repeat

Yeah I got some alpha kyons on that mission too, nothing since. . . . . . until yesterday!
Killed two Khaak Destroyers that were terrorising The Hole, both dropped some Kyons
See here, in my storage Mammoth.
Funny thing is at the same time I was fighting I lost a Universe trader else where so afterwards I saved and reloaded the battle to see if I could kill the Destroyers get the kyons AND save my Uni trader. Re did it quite a few times and they never dropped they're Kyons again.
Re-loaded to the previous save, Kyons are rare, I can buy another Uni trader!

Yeah, I got 5 G-kyons, 3 B-kyons and one A-kyon when I destroyed the Khaak cap ships in my universe. Haven't found any use for the G-kyons yet, but was able to use the A and B to good effect on a Xenon P using the M6 rebalance mod (though now that I have the M7 mod, it can no longer mount them )Bishop149 wrote:Yeah I got some alpha kyons on that mission too, nothing since. . . . . . until yesterday!

I may be mistaken, but finding kyons isn't that great in X3. No ship that you can have (unmodded) can mount them and they aren't worth very much. I got my first destroyer yesterday and found my first Khaak invasion (lucky me). After destroying the second destroyer, I found 2 alpha kyons, 1 beta kyon, and 1 gamma kyon. I think all together they sold for like 200k... I think for being "superior" weaponry, I should get paid more for them.
I had a khaak destroyer and a khaak carrier in rolks fate, the destroyer did'nt drop jack but the carrier (which was a beeyach to kill, since I only had a nova vangaurd) dropped a gamma beam..... its only worth about 200k so i was wondering if they are worth keeping. Meaning are their any buyable destroyers/carriers that i can put it on?
Nope, not yet without mods but who knows with 1.4. I just keep mine as trophies as they're rare.bleek wrote: Meaning are their any buyable destroyers/carriers that i can put it on?
