Split Python Gamma PPC load
Ive read that the Split Python can equip 40 Gamma PPC's but on all of mine that i have, when i get to 37, it shows no more available weapon slots. Can the Python only use 37 or does it actually use 40 Gamma PPC's without showing the full weapon layout?

What if he doesn't have rank for Borons? But anyways, I thougth the nice thing about the Python is its compact, compared to the others atleast. Now, if the Ody can still mount all shockwaves, is it therefore just as effective as in X2? Or did they lower the power of the gamma shockwaves (they do still have gamma shockwaves in X3 right?)
LASTLY - Has anyone fought small fast fighters with a M2 using all GPPCs and did the sheer number of them make up for the fact that PPCs are woefully inneffective against them??

Ahem!!!!, 37 or 40, i have the Boron rank for their M2's but i do like the Python's, i use the Python for the Frontier sectors and the Ray for the Core sectors, i agree that the Ray is an excellent M2 but i use both of them so the question still is, does a Python use a full load of Gamma PPC's or just 37 like i originally asked?, thanks for the other advice too.

Echeolonshadow,
Sectors 101 and 347. I cleared 347 during a Xenon mission in Scale Plate Green so I am not certain if this made it any easier. I started the mission with only a handful of PPC's but after dropping a few J's and K's I was maxed out with GPPC's and BPPC's. My tactic when hitting big Xenon Cap ships with L's, M's, and N's flying cover is literally launch enough Silkworms to kill most of the M3's, and 4's on my way to interception. I then "wedge" my Python between the big Cap ship to my Port side (left) and fighters to starboard (right) with GPPC's and BPPC's in port weapon turrets and BFAA's and AFAA's in starboard weapon turrets that way I have the best weapons for both threats. Also I bring up my sector map regularly to keep track of the battlefield so I can place my Python where enemy strength is weakest or to my best advantage. If shields drop to low, I jump to a gate and approach from a far. Destroy the Xenon base and spawning ends.
Can't imagine taking Xenon sectors in an M6 though- best to own all Pirate sectors first and leave TL/ M6 patrols to keep the peace and bide your time for M1's and M2's (the time between M6’s and M1’s and 2’s is an absurd balance issue in the game IMO). Use the Sector Take Over script if you want own the universe some day : ) My next move is to declare war on the Lizards just waiting for an M1 full of Novas and it's adios reptiles!
Also see my TL battle guide for more information on TL battle groups. Just the thing when taking over Pirate sectors.

I love my Pythons. I have three. And since it took me three months of constant play to earn the right to buy them, I cherish them.
I run GPPCs front, top and bottom ( 8 +4 +2 = 14 )
I run Bflaks left and right (4 + 4 = 8 )
I run BPACs (4) and Aflaks (2) in the rear turret.
That's a total of 28 gun positions. So you can't have even 29 of anything in a Python.

I owned a Ray. It's not very good against fighters. I only own Pythons now. I live for the moment when a fighter is 1.5 km away and my Bflaks make them go poof! You hear the sound of the cannons go off like a battery of big guns, then the target lights up and explodes ... way cool......superdandroid17 wrote:Buy a ray they def mount 40 have and have better shields oos king.
Bwump! Fooop!
or something like that ........
Wish I had rep for Python.
I have cleared 472 with solo Dragon. No respawns whatsoever. Not even after several hours. Maybe I should leave a satellite there. I did not blow up the station.
I have thinned 598 somewhat with solo Dragon. There were respawns, or spawns of P patrols, and at least one M+5-6N. Possibly a J with escort wing too.
IMO Thunderbolt is much better than Silkworm (against Ls). Better range, over three times the damage, and takes less room in the hold. Silkworm does 24,000 of damage and M has at most 24,200 (shield+hull). Leaves a sitting duck. L has at most 87,000 (shield+hull). Tbolt does 75,000.
From Elephant vs Khaak Carrier I can say that the nose/tail turrets of Split capital ships are far from the bridge, and the opponent probably does not see them. Poor AI waits to get the bridge into range. Considering the shape of the ship, one can probably strafe and avoid much of the enemy fire, while the back turret may still keep hitting the chaser.

Thanks twd
I cleared the pirate sectors but didn't leave any m6's i left maybe 20lasertowers each pirate sector and havent had much more trouble from the pirates.
Is the python the best Cap ship?
Because i already have the highest ranking on argon for completing the game
But are you sure if i just had enough dragons and centuars backed by fighters i couldn't take the sector like that or would it be more cost effective with a python?

I am of the opinion that it is both more cost effective, and easier to take heavily defended positions in large Cap ships such as the Python and Raptor then with TL’s and M6’s. You would probably loose over half your m3's and it would take a half dozen Elephants and Dragons minimum to take one of those Xenon sectors. 6x14=84 Novas in the Elephants with 840 Thunderbolt missiles or twice that number in Silks versus my lone Python and 300 Silkworm's or if I had the missile fabs for Thunderbolts 150.
TL's and M6 battle groups are great for Pirate Sectors and this is the place to learn your fleet command skills however for Xenon territory, M1's and M2's with M6 support is king.
I love combined force and have written about it continually however the task of building such a fleet only to partially loose it and to then rebuild looses and restocking of said fleet is formidable. Add to this the endless respawn engine of the game and you'll eventually burn out. Sadly I am reaching this point as the game is seeming more and more like a dog chasing it’s tail in a circle.
I think I'll declare war on the lizards now

Well I just reattempted to take the xenon sector 347 but 2 of my dragons made the most sickening display of AI intelligence i have ever seen one blew up with its own firestorm and the other couldn't move around fast enough to avoid the Xenon caps fire so i quite the game and i decided ill stop trying the m6 manuaver
My Thunderbolt factories are progressing im just stockpilling into the split elephant
Thanks guys

I wont believe clearing a Xenon sector with one dragon is possible until I see a recording of it. I'm especially curious how a strafe drive alone can dodge like 20 missles launched at once, just how they seem to like it when the single IRE/PAC/MD turret set to missle defense doesnt see any of them and they slam into me.
Use your M6's to support your TL's full of Novas and see my TL Combat Guide for ideas and fleet command scripts.Echeolonshadow wrote:Well I just reattempted to take the xenon sector 347 but 2 of my dragons made the most sickening display of AI intelligence i have ever seen one blew up with its own firestorm and the other couldn't move around fast enough to avoid the Xenon caps fire so i quite the game and i decided ill stop trying the m6 manuaver

It is possible, because the player is flying that Dragon. Nobody but me has missile spammed. Only the K or J does occasionally fire a missile. I usually shoot them (missiles) with front guns or let the MD do it while recharging. The largest incoming missile has been a Firestorm, but it detonated at safe distance.maestro4202 wrote:I wont believe clearing a Xenon sector with one dragon is possible until I see a recording of it. People say that Ms missile spam. I have not seen very many M in Xenon sectors. And the ones I saw, I killed with Silkworms from 15km distance. Undershielded Ls I take out first with Tbolts from 25km distance. Fully shielded Ls receive Silk+Tbolt from 15km distance. That leaves the capital ships. They do chase, but Dragon is clearly faster. Eventually, a J will get ahead of the others and then it is simply a matter of strafing with APPC from 4km range. Rinse and repeat. It does some time to take down 6GJ of shields, so others may catch up. If lucky, they do help.
There are only two problems (for me). (1) I have no factories and depend on NPC missile production. (2) How to get my superfreighter collect all the stuff that occasionally is left after a K/J kill. I did collect over 25mil worth of guns last night from 598. I may have used a couple million in missiles, but that is still good profitsss.
The key is to stay out of trouble. Dragon has superior speed. Dragon can mount weapons of great range. Dragon can strafe to dodge PPC fire. Those make it deadly.
However, that works for the personal ship only. The AI requires different kind of ships. I would not take a wing into Xenon sectors. The K/J are way too dangerous for that. Besides, I was in Xenon sector to boost combat rank. Combat rank improves BBS missions. BBS missions improve Split rank. I really want that Python, even if I have to kill all the Xenons for it.
The Python can run 69m/s. Still faster than K, but slower than J (89) and L. Thus, it cannot outrun threats the way Dragon can. However, it has shields and both GPPC and BFAA to kill quickly that targets that can catch it.

Well I just bought argon collouses
And i just got it halway to its max sheilding and as soon as I arm it all up im sending it to getsu fune and save up again
Next time maybe python but im only a level ontop of family protector
But I find taking on any ship of anysize except ones armed with 2+x GJ shields as long as you piggy back as its so easy to do on the orcas, mammoths, elephants and albatross. Only one I cant get to and not piggy back on is a Ka'ahk carrier
