Spacefly Collection Question

How exactly does one go about collecting spaceflies with the collector?

All you need to do, is first zap the spacefly with an Ion Disruptor beam, then open the cargo bay doors and collect the stunned fly like a cargo container. Caution though, you should probably zap it once more just before you run over it, because they often come unstunned at the last second and cause a small amount of hull damage when you run into them with your shields down.

Where can you find them? I've never seen one before.

They occur pretty much randomly, except that there are a couple of things that seem to attract them. In X2, if you are fighting, especially using Ion Disruptors (yes, the very ones that stun them, its the old moth to the flame concept) they tend to be attracted more often. Otherwise, if you just sit in relatively quiet space and manage your empire for a time, they are bound to buzz by and pay you a visit.
