Mouse for Combat - WHERE'S MY JOYSTICK!!!!

I am trying to use my joystick for space combat in X3.
It is a Saitek Cyborg Evo, with USB Connection.

I plugged it in, installed the software for it, and loaded X3. On the configuration screen, I went into Input device, and selected Saitek Cyborg Evo.

In Game - Nothing. I have to use my mouse for combat.

It is not a joystick issue, as it works fine in X2.

Anyone got any ideas??

Have you patched your game to 1.4.03? There was an issue with the game recognising joysticks in 1.0 but it was fixed about a year ago.

That might be it. Haven't had the speed or bandwidth to get any patches. Will try that when I get a chance.
