Question about Bali Gi's missions:

I am a new player to X3 (causual X2 player) and just bought the X3: reunion V2.0 w/ bali gi mission thing. Anyway, looking at the startup menu there are options of which character to play and also whether to enable or disable the storyline.

My main question: are all the "Side Quest"-type missions (like bali gi, getting the new factory, and i guess some sort of auction for a sector) enabled even if I disable the storyline?

no it doesn't matter if you're playing the plot or not

you can unlock additional starter modes by getting a high or low ranks. you can access the bala ji missions in these games as well.
You know you have had enough when you dock at a pirate base and toss a couple bucks at the monitor...
