To buy Avarice in 2.02, when and how much?

Post by Zaijka » Fri, 15. Dec 06, 12:03

Could anyone plz tell how much money do I need to have to buy Avarice in X3, 2.02, and on which day the offer will come if I start a new game? Thank you in advance.

PS. In my old game the Avarice was long sold to BurnIt, but in the new game, I am planning to to save him his credits  .

You can't miss the offer and need about 900M but the precise amount is random.

If you have started a new game then you have plenty of time. Eventually the bid will reach about 600M (again a bit random) and then you get an incomming message inviting you to participate.

Even then you have enough time to get the cash to pay in case you win the auction.

Cheers Euclid

You can start bidding at 615. When the bidding started I still only had around 300mil spare so had to make cash quick (didn't want to miss out). I managed to raise my reserves to 630 mil and placed a bid and saved. I then flew around a bit and got told the price had gone to 645 mil. So I reloaded and this time my 615 bid was accepted. Cheating, I know, but in retrospect I'm not even going to use the place so I'm glad I did.

German thread on the subject is quite sure that the auction is announced to be imminent (Trade Dock appears) when 5 days ( 120 hours ) have passed from the start. The first chance to bid (615 mil) may occur about 100 hours after that. And then there may be 50 to 100 hours before BurnIt! wins (if the player does not bid). But the last one is really uncertain.

So one might have about 10 game days (from start) to gather the credits.

I think I received message ("you won" or "need to bid more") about an hour after previous bid. Whether a bid wins is random, and the lowest bid has probably least chance to win. I've tried twice, and on first time the 615 mil won, but on second time it took couple extra bids, so 780 mil won.

Thus, as the result, 800-900 mil. during 10 ingame days should surely suffice. :) . Just needed to know, when I could start to spend on myself.

I started a new game under 2.02 recently, and delibrately avoided 'discovering' the sector, haven't seen anything about the auction, though I'm only 4 1/2 days in... Hope not to see it soon either, as I've got less than 70-mill in the bank...

The NPC bidding starts around gameday 5 or 6, at least in my current game. And bidding started at a mere 50,000,000 credits. It's currently at 60 million. Of course, I have about half that in currency at the moment, and haven't had more than 40 million at any one time. So I think the bidding amounts are relative to your current cash on hand. BTW, the game now seems to notice how much I have in my factories. I generally keep less than 2 million in my account, with the bulk in my silicon mine, but I was offered the BG mission, which supposedly happens after you have at least 5 million credits (among other requirements). Maybe it's a good idea to keep 'non-liquid' assets around, to hide my true worth from the feds.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

That makes no difference unfortunately - in my game i hadnt been anywhere near where it is and i still got the message that bids were coming in (up to 600,000,000 atm) - so wether uve discovered it or not it will kick in at a point early in the game anyways.

I didnt want to start again so im going to do what i never wanted to do and use the script manager to give me the credits i need to buy, then ill deduct the excess to put me back financially where i was and never look at the script manager again. If i mess with it too much ill spoilt the game (buying M2s etc prematurely). Means i can at least go back to playing how i want to play instead of starting all over again and entering a forced cash charge game - this game was meant to be freedom based gameplay anyway.

Won "Avarice" last night. 660,000,000. Pretty cheap from what I've read. Named it Legends Home. Now what to fill it up with? My PHQ is already in Akeela's Beacon, but I'm happy to call 2 sectors home. Think I'll fill it up with M1's and Ele's full of fighters for now, to call in when I need them. Maybe a few factories as well. Still have 600,000,000 in the bank.
