Headquarter complex

I plan to build my HQ in savage spur and alongside it a large complex.

Now I know my complex will need to produce the following for the HQ:
Computer Components
Microchips
Quantum Tubes
Crystals
Silican Wafers
Ore
Rastar Oil
Cloth Rimes
Talaidanium
Energy Cells

I would also like to add all the equipment I might need to equip M1s, M2s, M7s and M3+, maybe others..

Has anyone already got a plan for such a complex I can have a look at please?

Just remember that you can't connect your HQ up to a complex. you will need to ship too it.

A couple of complexes have been mentioned in the past. Have a play with the boards search function and see if you can find them

Also a complex of the size you're talking about will cause frame rate issues. If you plan on visiting your HQ regularly i would plan on putting it in a neighbouring sector (e.g. supply complex of one side of the gate, HQ on the other.)

Thanks for the info.

I have a complex of over 100 station in another sector already and only a little slowdown when looking at it up close, so should be fine.

I have played with the search function, but it's driving me up the wall, also only seem to find complexes to make the base resources needed for repairing etc.

I have a complex currently geared up for Hyerion construction but working on adding capital ship weaponary and making it self sustaining.

currently it has:
Argon Wheat Farm M, Rhimes Fact M
Argon Silicon Mine L 64 (got another in 64 asteroid sector plus a few 26s)
Argon Ore Mine L 51
Teladi Teladianium Foundry L (player version does not use Ore btw)

Split Chip Plant
Split B-HEPT Forge
Boron Bio Gas Factory L, BoFu Chemical Lab L

To complete capital ship resource production will be adding

This complex is pretty much as light as can be, producing enough to keep the HQ happy. (even when producing and repairing at same time.)

1xTeladi Ore Mine L 10 Yield

4xBoron Chip plant S ( 2 is enough if you built the HQ on 2.002 patch)

(additional 2 mill saving by using 1 XL SPP, why I didn't I really don't know )

you might want to add 1 Crystall fab and 1 SPP M to that, otherwise it is running bit dry when both silicon mines are at full steam. (there's enough bofu for that.)

Total is around 100 MCr.

I notice some of those fab's are S and M size. Couldn't you reduce the number of factories by increasing some of those to L's?

The S fabs build stuff that is only used by the HQ (chips, quantum tubes, comp. components, etc...)

I dare you to find a Chip Plant M or L, or crystal fab L. (without any mods that is ofcourse)

besides, some of those S and M fabs are actually overproducing but can't build anything smaller and overproduction doesn't hurt so that's what I built.

i have my HQ in a relatively empty unknown sector, but next to it another unknown sector with 3 64 yield silcon roids where my complex is

i started out by laying down the basics:

1 SPP XL
3x Cattle Ranch L
3x Cahoona Bakery L
5x Crystal Fab M (couldnt find L anywhere)
2x Silicon Mine L (yield 64)

and working from there. the HQ dosent really consume resources THAT fast, so an M sized fab for each resource is sufficient - although i needed 2 chip plants to keep enough microchips stocked for full-time production. there also some weapon and shields fabs in there randomly which run off surplus resources, and plenty of energy cells to go around even with traders constantly visiting and buying them for 12cr
also have some Ore Mines but because i couldnt be bothered to drag them 120km to my complex i linked them where they were and just have transports going between them

it does cause a lot of fps drop, but not as much as my Avarice complex which has over 40 structures

do you make much profit on the ships you build? i just got the HQ and worked out the cost of parts to build a buster, seems pretty expensive.....is it worth while building ships to sell them?

Just do some simple math take the build costs and write them down make a good save build the ship you wanna sell and try sell it for a higher price then you build it for.

OK finally purchase Averice, 690mill too :))

Started building my medium sized complex:

3 x Silicon Mine L (40)
3 x Silicon Mine L (31)
3 x Silicon Mine L (28)
4 x SPP XL
8 x Cattle Ranch L
8 x Cahoona Bakery L
20 x Crystal Fab M

This only gives 98.3% crystals, but then again thats fine as long as I make sure I always have 105% energy cells.

Next to add the factories required to build ships and then thos for ship equipment.

if you want the ultimate set of complex's check out the below link, you can even avoid fps issues by putting the different complex's into different sectors and using cargo ships with jump drives to deliver to your HQ.

Bala Gi missions have nothing whatsoever to do with the plot and can be done in any type of start (apart from possibly Custom Universe--not sure about that one).
