What can I do with this software? It's worth buying it?

Yeap, you can use it to remotely take control over captured/pilotless ships. Be advised however that when sector police scan you, they will discover it and you will be in trouble.

You can use it to claim captured ships without leaving your ship, you still need to get close to the cap though. Oh and its illegal, you need to find a bbs entry at a pirate base for some scambler software that will hide its signature, then its quite useful!
