I'm in my 2nd game and have won Avarice also.
Bidding started in Day 7. I was allowed to bid in Day 9. I bid the starting figure of 615,000,000, and at 9 Days 4 Hours, won it with the first bid.
When I started a new game, I capped as many ships as possible, and jumped into Xenon Sectors in a Buster and tried to kill as many L/M/N fighters as I could. This increases your rank considerably in the early game.
I then set up some ST's, UT's and bought as many SPP M that I could as well.
BBS missions also.
When I first read about Avarice, I also thought it was not possible to earn that much money, but after playing the game for 400+ hours in my first try and reading this wonderful forum, my second game start was easily 10 times better than my first. In my first game though, too much time spent Learning instead of Earning!

I must admit that I cheated to get Averice as I started to loose the option to bid for it. I had every intention of earning the money to get it but my funds were still about 400 million short when I started to loose the option to bid. I cheated myself in enough to start the bidding but in the end I bought it for the 900 million I cheated in. No more money cheats for me now though

I had fourteen twentyfifth level UT's running around with *modified* 250MJ shields and 142m/s speed with all the extras and they only pulled a million every hour
I'm thinking, even with the *LV modified* game I started last night, I'm not going to pay over 600M credits for a sector that's about as useful as empty space; which is to say, not entirely useless, just worthless. Perhap's if you could only build where you buy it would be worth it, but it is just a deed and there are plenty of empty sectors with resources in them; something Avarice doesn't have

heh..i renamed avarice 'legends home' when i bought it... but to be honest... i haven't really found any real perks to owning it ? there's nowt to stop you from just building in it anyway and saving 690million credits..
