Avarice - Owned sector thingy

Hello,

I've been playing for about 6 game days now...(pretty much non stop, LOVE this game... been aching for a good space sim since Elite PLUS.... my eyes hurt)

anyway - I finished the Bala Gi Missions and got my HQ in a TL. I want that sector that you can buy but it's not up on the bbs yet so i was wondering...

can I build my HQ in Avarice in anticipation of winning the auction? it won't dissapear if i win it or if someone else wins it will it?

(that might be a noob question but that's what I am)

The sector would be owned by someone (is it BurnIt, d@mn it!) but your HQ is still yours. As for winning the Avarice auction, it is tough, but doable.

Yeah its hard. I didnt even get the option to start bidding until the price reached 615 mil

Your not supposed to be able to bid till 615 million... go Xenon hunting in the M7, selling the spoils is supposed to make massive profits

Build a trading empire based on space fuel/weed. I bought mine for $870 million on day 9. While the auction was running, I spent over $600 million on ships and factories.

It is not hard to get the money if you have a good foundation for earning it.

As the auction runs until game day 25 or 26, only a truely terrible player would miss out.
The more you save for it, the less money you are investing in your empire, the less profit you are making.
Keep spending till day 20, then start saving.
Then again, properly invested, game day 20 should see you making more money than you could sensible spend anyway.

That answered one of my questions. The first aution notice I saw said 60 mill, now it is up to 130 mill. I was tempted to ask how high other people had seen it go, so now I know

And all those credits for a sector from what I've read is of little value other than a Trade Station no vanilla NPC's will use and the right to name the sector. I imagine if you have the credits to burn it is a nice touch, but at this early stage in my game I can't imagine having that kind of cash to burn.

The only chance to have 2 PHQ's in game. It would be something worth bidding for.

Remember - it's HEADQUARTERS. Having TWO headquarters means neither one of them is a headquarter, which means that they're just normal boring stations, which kinda sucks.

well i'm well into day 6. Got my headquarters and a booze factory going. Those BBS missions to repel Xenon invasions get me a hell of a lot of money... specially in the Hyperion, guns blazing. i got 6 million payment for my services. exciting! (well it is for me

Do i have to keep checking the BBS or do you get a personal message about the auction

You will get a message on the bbs.

The price in my first and only game have just exceeded 615 mill and I can begin the auction.... if I had the credits lol.

I bid 615 for it then I got outbid and the next bid was 690. then I accidenly caught carrier on a jumpgate and exploded. had to do the entire last mission of the game again cause I hadn't saved yet since I finished 10 mins before getting caught on the jump gate. lol so the next time while I was waiting for the message so I could bid again, instead of the price going higher I won the auction at 615.

You can build in Avarice. You HQ will not vanish. I got bid for avarice on day 14 or so just to get rid of the bbs message and got it for 615 (the initial bid) like two hours after i pushed the button.

I'm on day 8,

I'm non story line so I dont have an easily purchasable M3+ or M7 (or do I? ) I have 45 million.

Question: Do I still have time to make enough money to buy Avarice?

If so, how should I go about doing it? (granted spending some/all of my 45mill is in order)

What does the storyline have to do with M3+ and M7 ships? The Bala Gi missions, which is where those ships pop up, have nothing to do with the plot.

Ahh I've been offered Bala Gi but can't do it because I have no Paranid Rep to speak of. Didn't know they were BG specific. I hope I've not missed the boat on Bala Gi missions. I assumed I would get offered them again once I have the requisite reputation. However I just capped an LX so now I have an M3+ ship
