I'll explain, similar to the Assasins Guild or merc guilds.

Police Guild!

You need a police licence and a moderate combat rank. To sign up you need to go to a designated trade station.

Once signed up you are given the rank of Constable Deputy.

Ranks are like:
Constable Deputy
Deputy
Deputy First Class
Sub-sheriff
sheriff
Sector sheriff
Marshall
Sector Marshall
High Marshall


You then get via BB boards lists of known crims to watch out for (ususally yaki or pirates that have numerous kills to their credit that have got the attention of the games AI)
or as you fly along you get a message from a nearby station that goes like...

(Emergency! The stations safe has been robbed bandit ships leaving the area help!) then you see several crim ships pegging it out of the system, you have to go get em!

or

you get approached by a number of ships usually led by the local Marshall hes assembling a posse of ships to hunt down some good fer nuthin varmints! Do you want to sign on.

You get a reward based on if dead or alive. A lower bonus for dead crims a higher one for crims bailed out and caught.

Sounds like a GREAT idea! And why not? Pirate Guilds, Mercinary Guilds, Bounty Hunter Guilds, hell even a Merchant and Taxi guild! Only makes sence for there to be a Police Guild, but now that you've mentioned it, I don't recall having ever seen one............. Good idea! Vigilante's R' Us?
