Well, I finally have enough money to purchase a few more ships.
Is there any tutorial for setting up a squadron? I have no idea how to assign ships to be my wingman or to use eachother as wingmen.
Any advice?
Squadrons? Wingmen?

Not really, and there's no ideal way to do it in vanilla.. What game you running?
If you're running X3, Xaicorp have some great group controls/squad management scripts over in scripting and modding.
I'd personally suggest ATO(attack target of...), set that on the patrol/flight wingmen, then download the patrol fix that allows fighters to patrol sectors aswel(again, from scripting and modding).
ATO allows the escorts to attack when the wing leader attacks, as opposed to protect which makes the escorts attack only when the leader is attacked.

Good God.
To have a ship be your wingman, simply set the wingman option to yes
in that ship's command menu. You can then use the hot keys shift->6 and
shift->7 to form up or attack your target.
To have a ship be a wingman to one of your other ships, just command
it to protect it.
In both cases the formation is determined by the formation setting in the lead ship's
command menu.
It is recommended that wingmen have a similar speed to the leader, to avoid
too many autopilot related incidents.
