You can find CIGs as crates in some sectors. Yaki sectors I think. Also, you can get them from pirate ships.
Come watch me on Twitch where I occasionally play several of the X games

These weapons are not buyable. You have to find them in crates which are hidden all over the universe. But it is quite hard to finde these boxes.

another way to get this weapons is to make KillMissions with a TL or other GKS. These ships will drop CIG from time to time if you shot them.

They're pants anyway.

I batted around a Pirate Buster for giggles for 5 minutes, then sold them.

I think they're good. If you fly something with low shielding, they're great for keeping the enemies from locking on with turrets or front guns. Against Khaak clusters they make short work of the M5s by smashing them against each other. They're also great fun for the "see how many heavy fighters I can smash into asteroids" game. :)

The list of locations is in my starting off in X3 guide.

Most of them show up on the nav map as soon as you enter the sector.

I cannot see any locations for Concussion Impulse Generators in that guide.

To the OP:
They can be bought at the trading stadion in Elysium of Light.

Gnavpot I just checked Elysium of Light and didn't see any for sale there. You sure you're not running a mod/script that gives you that option?

Me neither. But they are in the handbook.

Um, don't think there is a trading station in EoL in vanilla.

They may show up in the wares list at the equipment dock if you have some onboard a docked ship though.

Another source is from assassiation BBS missions at the upper combat ranks. Sometimes 1-3 will drop.

Then there is the very rare pirate cap that has one fitted.

It would be nice if there was a BBS message that offered some for sale. Maybe "treasure hunt" does that already.

Ooops, your right. I updated the Handbook version but never changed the originals. (Adds to list of things to do)

It can do - I've had a crate of 12 in a treasure hunt. Although treasure hunts tend to be pretty rare anyway.

Oops. And oops once more.

I thought of it as a trading station because it sells advanced satellites. Normally, only trading stations do that. But it is an equipment dock.

And yes, it showed up in the list because I had one on the ship when I visited said equipment dock.

Any equipment you have in the cargo hold of a ship docked at an EQ will show up in the ware list. That's how it's so easy to make money with a Manual Trader. Just because an EQ doesn't sell a particular weapon/missile/shield, doesn't mean you can't sell it to them.

Back to topic, the range of the CIG looks great (5KM), but it seems the PBEs would be more useful.

No, it will not.

But it will at an equipment dock.

Doh! I meant EQ. If the CIG is in your ship when you dock at an EQ, it will show in the 'trade' window. If you sell it, it will disappear, because the EQs don't sell the CIG.
