Where do all the pirates with PSG's and IC's hang out?
Where can i find some?....i saw 1 or 2 pirates with psgs but im prety sure it was random where i found them, and ive only ever seen a baracuda with ions...
when they spawn i believe there is a random chance of their weapon and cargo loadout as well as ship upgrades camping a pirate base and repeatedly taking out the spawned ships I have run in to a few of these mean versions of pirate.
i would say ion and psg spawning pirates is on the rare side of the random generator

After killing 700 pirates and capturing 150 or so i did yesturday capture my first with a ion laser. I trasfered it to my centurian to sell in a equipment dock later on.
I think that there weapons are random. i have done nearly all my killing in preist pity and only one or two have had any decent weapons

I recently had a battle with 2 pirate ships having ion disruptors. I wondered what the blue beam was they were using...and had the message about 'shields critical'. It scared the **** out of me!
In an earlier game, I bumped into a slow pirate who had a PSG so I killed him quickly...just before he killed me.
Fortunately most don't have these nasty weapons, but some do. I now make sure I do a freight scan on them before attacking.

If it was up to me every pirate ship would have max loadouts

I like the variation. A ship I came across had 6Mw of shields (1+5) instead of 10 (5+5).
I've recently captured one with a docking computer and another had a jumpdrive...although perhaps most ships have one but they don't survive my attempts to make them surrender.
Perhaps if the loadouts depended on the difficulty...?

I've encountered maybe three or four PSG or IC equipped pirates, and my kill totals for them are well into the hundreds--not to mention the dozens I've captured! I did once SEE a Bayamon with four ICs attacking a ship, but that was in the early game when I didn't have a ship capable of taking on a Mandalay, much less a fully loaded Bayamon.
I encountered my first Pirate with PSG's in Home of Light, early in the game. I only had a Nova and never before had seen a PSG in action.
It almost cost my life and plenty of credits to repair my hull. After that, I bought a freight scanner and made a habit of scan-before-capturing.
Now that I have the money, I bought a Paranid Nemesis and really enjoy blasting 'em away with my GAMMA PSG.

I got into a dogfight with pirates where two Novas joined, one with 2 ion cannons and the other with PSGs... I was like WHAT THE HELL!! I'm getting smoked by the Argies. Needless to say I killed them both quick... then reloaded.
