VOICE - How to add custom voices?

Post by southwolf » Sun, 30. Mar 08, 01:45

(Sorry for my broken English)
Hello guys, I've been making X3 mod for fun, and recently I've got an idea of adding my own voice into the game. AFAIK, ALL the voices are packed into ONE large file "00144.dat", while "00044.xml" is the index.

My question is: Do I have to deliver the whole 90M file to relase a voice mod, or to make it as a single, small file?

I've noticed there's something like stream="1" in 00044.xml. Seems there CAN be a different sound stream. Can we read data from another file, when we make stream=2 ?...
When you dig my grave, could ou make it shallow?

Did ya consider adding "sounds" instead? Those are single WAV files which may be easier to implement.

In the end it's all audio...

There is no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
