Getting to Earth

Just wondering, if after completing storyline, if it is possible to take the gate to earth, of course i tried, but i got blown to pieces by earth destroyers shortly after getting into Heretics end. I plan to continue to build a fleet, but I will not waste my time if the gate does nothing.
Anyone tried or know if this is possible?

Yep if you want to visit Earth you'll have to download and start playing the XTM mod. In an unmodded game the heretics end gate does not work.

Yes, i've reached the gate with my Arrow, but the ship won't jump.
Is possible to capture the terran fighters? I've killed some of them without alert the fleet.

You cannot capture Terran ships in a vanilla game, no.
