Removing PSG's?
Hi all,
Not sure if this is possible, but worth asking:
is there any way to script PSG's OUT of XI missions? They are an absolute nightmare when the 'Nids appear and indiscriminately shoot at my entire fleet "accidentally"
In fact, while we are asking, is there anyway to script them out of enemy ships completely?
Answers on a Postcard please.

Simplest: You could mod PSGs so they just shoot different bullets. All PSGs would just be PAC(A)/HEPT(B)/PPC(G). This is an easy change to revert.
Alternatively, you could modify every ship to be incompatible with PSGs.
Or you could dig into the Jobs file and into the XI script to make sure the paranid ships never spawn with PSGs. Ech.

Excellent, thats the type of info i'm looking for. So it sounds like it is possible.
Now... I aint a scripter unfortunately (wouldnt really know where to start).
So, if any of you nice scripters out there has a spare 5 mins, i think removing PSG's from all NPC ships (but not the game completely) would be a great little helper, especially for framerate and XI's.
And of course, you'd have my eternal gratitude
(i use many other scipts btw, Most of Cycrows and LV's)

No Mods at all, but i have bonus pack, bala gi, Cycrows guilds, LV stuff, escort, arena, Deathmatch, Treasure hunt, EMP etc. etc.
But no actual Mods, no.
Don't get me wrong, i do like PSG's, but only when i choose to use them (khaak clusters, or X-treme level on Arena Deathmatch for instance).
When they are used by the NPC's indiscriminately they not only slow my FPS to a crawl, but wipe out fiendly ships (my fighter wings in Xi's)

nopsg.rar
Extract either to mods directory or game base directory (either works). Choose as a mod from the game launcher if in mods directory. In the game directory, rename both files as a number that's one higher than what you see. (The numbers probably go up to 9, in which case you'd name both files 10.)
I haven't tested it but there's no chance of damaging your savegames. PSGs should retain their size, price, icons and mounting ability, but act like APACS, AHEPTS and BPPCs respectively. If it doesnt work just get rid of the files. You may want to use the cheat scripts to stick in a Oddy or something and test the PSGs out.

Well, either way its a fantastically useful little script that i can't wait to try out!
Once again, thanks for all the help on this one. It'll certainly make XI's much more friendly and run alot smoother.
May be an idea to try and stickie this for people with slower systems touse??

Check the tech support forum, you will find this:
Tips and Tricks to improve FPS
Dunno how up to date it is, but none the less good information. I believe it references a few PSG mods/asteroid removal mods or something in there once you get deep enough.
